I have a lot of newbies asking me about the best clearomizer / tank they should get and I almost always recommend the Protank. It's got all the features many tanks twice it's cost have, plus the Protank comes with some "thoughtful" extras many others would charge additional for. Here is a Protank article that really breaks it down from soup to nuts so if you want to know more about the Protank check it out! :2c:

I just got two new ones in the way too nice plastic boxes.
They are not nearly as convenient as the Kanger T2 but their quality is EXCELLENT.
I am a Machinist and Manufacturing engineer so I KNOW this for certain.

The main issue I have (so far) is that the contact heads of the easily replaced coils needs to be pulled out a bit before assembly.
Mine didn't burn at first so I used my thumb nail to get between the stem and the little white gasket ring and pull it out about 1/32".
Works great!
I am using 1.8ohm coils as those seem to run a little towards lower voltage.
On the twists I set around 3.8v and get substantial and satisfying Vape and also decent battery life.

The other draw back, besides all the taking apart to fill stuff is that the eGo collars that help make the thing look half decent interferes with charging.
So I have to remove it to Charge which is ANOTHER disassembly/assembly thing to do. It also will serve to support the Tank which hooks up on the tiny 510 thread only. But you have to screw it out from the bottom so it reaches up and can do that. Each time. Because like I said I have to remove the collar to charge up.

If the Kanger T2 came in GLASS I would use that and be all set.
I only got the Pro-tanks because I want to try Amaretto flavored juice which I know for a fact eats plastic.
Not good and most definitely not good to inhale.

Hype AND the real deal to me.

Hype-busters:
-metallic taste
-too airy for most (at least takes some getting used to)
-requires FULL on tinkering to work well (pull pin, wash in various solutions, flip/remove/snip cup, pull/add flavor wicks, re-wick with various materials, recoil, EVOD heads, etc)
-flavor is muted badly, unless you tighten the draw and use cotton wicks, even then it still doesn't compare to more direct deliveries, IMHO.
-510 threading is "relatively" weak.
-cold vape (see airy draw and brass mouthpiece)

Real Deal:
-Pyrex tank
-solid build
-looks great
-can rebuild heads with ease. 32awg Kanthal and a box of Qtips and you're all set for the foreseeable future.

For me personally, the flavor is a deal breaker. Pyrex carto tanks have supplanted clearos for me.

Never wanna go back to a nova clearo after using the protank, I need to replace the wick with cotton because Silica is horrible.. Love the airy draw and everything about the tank. The only thing I hate is that the 510 connection on the bottom base is very fragile and will snap off if dropped or sat on wron. Good thing that the bottom base is just $2 at discountvapors.com, bought 4 of them

All hype. Does the same as the kanger T3, and the T3's were pretty bad. Non stop dry burning tire taste. Very airy but that wouldn't bother me if it performed at all. Have tried removing wicks adding wicks every which way. 50/50 juice will
Not wick in this devil tank. Heard Iclear is better. Going to give that a try. Previous poster had it right, WAY too much tinkering required and even then doesn't perform at all. Not worth the headaches.

Liked mine at first but then the problems started. Had the gurgles and then flooded once, a clear mix of juice and condensation on the device connection when I pulled it off. Not sure if it had to do with removing the top wick. The real issue is after a while I get a dry burnt flavor no matter what power setting. I have to dial it back and still not crazy about the flavor. Tried dry burning the coils and it seemed to improve but was short lived. Same with the other head that came with it. I bought a new 5 pack of heads and will try again hoping they perform better than the ones that came with the tank. I picked up an Evod which has a very similar head and absolutely love it. Strange that with the same manufacturer and basic head design there would be such a difference.

Before I got the new heads for the Protank I bought a Fluid Flask carto tank and some Boge cartos. The flavor blows away anything I have tried before. Still I like the Protank for the ability to change juice quickly by washing the tank and head. I will see how round 2 goes.

Mine was airy and dry when I first got it. I had to do some experimenting with it at first. I had to remove one of the top wicks and have to store it on its mouthpiece to get it to work right now (I'm too cheap to recoil and rewick a functioning device). I have had success in rebuilding my T3 (total POS as received) by following: Vapor Lady Lounge Rebuild a Protank Atomizer, eVod Atomizer A New Way - YouTube So I am thinking it will work well for the Pro Tank.

My opinion so far is it is a usable (not great) device with too much hype.

I vape 50/50 juice and I have 5 protanks. All have had no runs drips or errors. The only issue I had was when my Provari fell and the threads on the base of the protank broke off. Easily replaced the base and backin business. Being a Nube these protanks have proved to be pretty much plug and play. They are easy to fill easy to clean and if so inclined easy to rebuild. I never had a dry hit or burnt taste and Ivape all day every day. I will try one of those air flo controllers just to see if I like a tighter draw. Though the evod heads seem to fulfill that need
