My exact fav too. 30g on .73 using KGD. Unfortunately I sometimes do something wrong and end up with 1.4 but I prefer 1.7-1.8

Welcome B2,

You have definitely come to the right place for Kanger PT's. The folks here are very helpful in aiding you to achieve whatever it is your after. We still love our ProTanks and that's due to air flow controls, proper coil builds and a variety of wicking media.

My favorite at the time is a 1.8 ohm coil built on a .073 dia. tool using 30 gauge kanthal. I am currently testing my builds with KGD (Ko Gen Do Japanese cotton) and so far I am finding it superior to anything I have used.

If you have questions feel free to ask, this is a great thred for help and information!

Thanks crg. My intended build is pretty similar to yours. And, I just ordered some KGD cotton today....should arrive by Saturday. I have decided that although the cotton yarn wick was easy, the taste is still a bit off. Hoping the KGD is as great as everyone is reporting.

Let us know how you do with the KGD. As I said before I find it to be excellent in all aspects.

On a side note, I find KGD to be much easier to wick, also to re-wick.

Certain juices I use have a lot of particulate in them, so they have a tendency to gunk up your coil quickly. I was using rayon prior to KGD and rayon had a tendency to stick if I tried to reuse a coil. This destroyed the coil and made it unusable.

With KGD I am able to pull the wick when the coil is gunked and burn the gunk off of the coil and re-wick it. Most times I would be able to re-use the wick as it holds up better for what ever reason.

KGD is the way to go with any PT build!

WOW I have some reading to do here to get up to speed. I've been back to vapeing for about a month but went straight for rebuilding the coils in my emow.. using old style single coils on advice from vape shop I have ordered a protank2 looked around to find direction and then I found this... NICE. when I gave up on vapeing the first time the egoT was king , how far this has come... I'll need to get this right as this is the best I've done so far.. not a micro as I lack the torch for now but not a bad vape 30ga wicked with cotton 10 wraps on my blunt tip from juice bottle @ 1.8 . know this is a crap coil but it still beats stock hands down. I'll read further to find perfection.. 2000+ posts is gonna take awhile.
My last post here was a long time ago and I'm eager to get this right this time. Sorry about my nails , I work elbow deep in grease most days.. Hope I can catch up to enough of this to make a true micro coil.

Report: thought I would dry burn, re-wick my coil today. I ran one tank of hazelnut coffee liquid through it so it was super gunked up. Yeah....cotton yarn totally stuck to the coil. So, the yarn experiment will not be repeated. KGD cotton on it's way....should be here Saturday, just in time to practice some coil winds again.

Oh well, the whole ball of yarn was less than $2...worth a try....but I won't be using it again unless I'm desperate for wick material and in a pinch.

At any rate, I was /am unsure what the optimal resistance is for my coils. If possible, I'd like to shoot for the same resistance /ohms on every coil, to get that repetition going. But, not a big deal if I would be better of doing different resistance coils for the two devices.

My answer to both of you is first focus asap on the wind. To build a true t.m.c. That will solve better than 90% of the heartaches that come with rebuilding clearo's. And do not torch them. Since my introduction of adhesion a lot of very smart folks on this forum have looked at this closely. Torching may damage the wire and inhibit the very oxidation that makes these things kick .... Adhesion gets you to the point you can create it uniformly. Torching negates it. And yes it may take a few tries. Start on the low side of tension and you will definitely see the wind separate. Increase the consistency and amount of tension applied. Within a half-dozen attempts or so most find the exact point that stickyness occurs for a given wire (gauge).

Once you have the perfected m.c. you can work out the body mechanics necessary to nail a perfect set. There are some very effective concepts laid out here in this thread on things like the exit path of the leads. I've spelled out and covered alternatives preferred by others. Their upside and downside. There's room to wiggle in some instances. In others the electron rules. Still in others you've got to give the tank it's due. What it is.

Good luck and give a holler if stuck.

Yup, vaping it right now at 22.5watts.

Kanger Aerotank-Mega w/rebuilt conceiled wick bdc head. 26awg, 7/6, 5/64" dia, .734ohm single coil, kgd.

Dripper clouds from a kanger tank. Take THAT kanger corp! And you thought you made a wickhead we couldn't rebuild. Laughable!

:)cig

So the above build worked pretty good but required too hard a draw to keep the coil cool and provide ample juice flow. Also tore the grommet using big wire (26awg) and not being as careful as I should have.

Changed the build to 26awg, 8/7 (.94 ohm) instead of 7/6 (.73 ohm). Much better now at 19 watts. 24 watts was just too much power for juice flow even with the 5/64" coil dia.

Next build will be 26awg 7/6 on 3/32" to see if the slightly larger coil ID will allow for higher wattage.

Btw: the conceiled wick bdc heads I'm using have the largest pos pin ID I have seen so far. Great air flow.

:)cig

So My Friends,

Most of us that have been here for awhile have discussed proper coil builds, wicking media and a lot of other things related to the Kanger PT.

I thought that we might add a little bit of a twist to the thread!

I HOPE YOU APPROVE!

Here is my collection to date, and yes I need drip tips!

well I have more than this already but had to use what Ive learned here to even make this work... convinced its not the tank its the coil that makes it worth vapeing
these were on clearance for $5
20141029_164334.jpg
had to recoil and rewick to even use ... the coils in these were horid. The taste made me want to crush them
20141029_141357.jpg

might fit a protank coil haven't tried .. I do know I fixed that nasty tasting thing quickly and I'm a novice

the recoil made these good ... . not a true pro tank but tastes just fine now ... It is the coil that does the work , the tank is but a vessel. real pro tanks by Saturday.. yay

lol not that that qualified as to what your wanting to see but.. thank you.
I bought 5 of those since they were so cheep. They are a perfect example of the power of a well built coil.
I truly think they were a great buy for me right now...
would have been trash without the knowledge to rebuild the coils even close to properly .
