Haven't noticed an weird flavor with the adv juice I've been vaping for 3 months. Res is stable. Hard to say whether the color is clearish or whitish....it's kind of both. Looks like teflon....kinda of a translucent pale white.

My problem with the submini has been juice delivery from the tank to the wick tails. Dry hitting at 20w. Dripping one drop of juice on each side of atty, not on but next to the wick tails, and all is good for 2 or 3 pulls at up to 30w. Same thing if I primer puff real hard a few times. So the wick seems to transport the juice from the tails to the coil just fine. Once vacuum is reestablished in the tank juice flow diminishes, wattage has to be reduced to 18-20w and I have pull pretty hard to stave off burny hits. As soon as I can hear the coil sizzling after a vape I know it's about the dry hit so....primer puff primer puff primer puff...and I'm back in business.

Will say this, got a replacement rba today and it performs a tiny bit better (23w) with the same build but still not up to my new found standards. Maybe my Lemo and Egrip w/rba just spoiled me. I mean, I used to be happy at 9w without dry hits.....but that's soooooo 2014:D
What're you hitting the lemo at?

It's really easy to tell the bottom where it hits the 510 connection, if you can see the insulator, it's the old style, if it looks all metal because of the clear insulator then it's the new model. Perhaps a little Dremel to the channel is all you need.

It's def not clear. Hitting the Lemo at 25-30w with no dry hits.....ever. Don't have to pull near as hard either. Running the same twisted 30 builds in both.

Guess I'll order a lemo. I will say this, I LOVE the build deck/capture of the rba. it's brilliant. No need to wrap around the screw.

addit: with the lemo, are you able to vape higher vg juices than 50/50 without dry hits? It just looks like a kayfun in terms of deck/build style, except with better airflow.

I'll pm you so we don't clutter the thread.

I really want a Lemo but I do not vape that high, mostly around 12 watts (2014 style)
:D
I hear the Lemo is great for flavor and no leaks but is it as good at low watts like I vape?

Sure chanel, the adjustable airflow takes you from completely closed off to wide open. Can't see an reason why you couldn't build a higher ohm coil and vape comfortably M2L at 12w. It's very versatile in that way. All the way from kayfun to atlantis style vaping. The minisub is similar in that regard but the most restrictive airflow setting is still too open for M2L imo. You have to adjust the afc in between the detented clicks so sometimes it can move out of position. That said the lemo afc is a little loosy goosy, so if you want to keep it steady between tank fillings a little 2mm x 1mm oring will keep it from moving.

Speaking of replacement grommets from Lightning Vapes, what is everyone's opinion between rubber or silicon? I know there was a mention somewhere here but can't seem to find it.

Kanger has switched to silicone, so all newer coil heads come with silicone insulators. I'm not sure what has been said in the thread, but rubber insulators were more prone to burning, especially with rebuilt coil (rebuilt using regular kanthal, not NR-R-NR wire which Kanger uses). Apparently, silicone handles hot legs better.

Have you considered a mini Erlkonigin clone from FT? Many MTL people love it. It's a bit tricky to wick, but once you've figured it out, it's really nice. And for 13 bucks, you really can't go wrong. ;)

Thanks Katya. That's what I thought I read. Confirms I am not loosing it completely (??????).

Link says that partucular one is discontinued, but I sure they can be had from one of the China sources.

I don't know if anyone else has done this. Here are my findings on the stock 1.2 ohm coil.

1. 4 MM screw wrapped in threads is about the same Id as the stock coil.
2. Wire seems to be 28 gage with non-resistance legs.
3. 5/4 wrap. stock coil
:2c:

Welcome TFL. Thx for nudge. :D

Preliminary peeks I've had at used Subtanks reveal a slightly different picture…

22AWG 5/4, 6.0mm i.d., 9mm L/L, 1mm W/S = .5Ω

IOW, you need 22 gauge wire to reach that temp spec with a 6mm Ø.

You might want to double-check the Mini dia. and see how it proofs here...

G'luck TFL and let us know how you make out.

:)

p.s. BTW, did anyone notice that the installed RBA wire is non-metallic. :?:
p.s.s. Thx for makin' me look, TFL. :)

I had 2 different types installed On the 2 I recieved. One was very shiny, the other, not so much.

I pulled out my spaced build and did a proper tmc on 2.2 mm drill blank (not spaced). 7 wrap approximately 1.1 ohm (higher than I was aiming for, but wanted to just barely cover the hole with the coil.) I'm hovering at about 19-19.5 watts and loving it! The unicorn milk is delicious here. I've not even tried to pump it past 20.

I've found this flavor is perfectly muted (it was slightly too sweet in my bottom feeder in the low 0.3 ohm range). Here, it's very well balanced. The subtank had great flavor for a tank, that I've found to subtly mute aspects if flavors I wasn't too find of as bottom feeders. Also helped me determine there are a couple flavors I simply don't like anymore after nice deep steeps.

Those will be going in classies soon enough, or thrown in as a gift when I sell my next thing on classies.

Afternoon brook, thx for the feedback.

I found both tanks so far very capable vapor volume producers. But the stock coils diffuse the vapor too much and the tank is kind of designed for that like the Aspires. But I think they hold a lot of promise for anyone that can build a wind for density. What we've been missing has been a well regulated airflow. That is, more than enough to handle good KGD JC or synthetics. And unlike low volume devices…to be able to get parts for!

I'm working on my first build right now for the mini and it will not be a conventional t.m.c. In fact it pushes the envelope to test density at to top of the power limits for the tank. Be back at you hopefully later. With pics!

Enjoy the vape brook.

:)

Mac

Those numbers I gave were for a stock 1.2ohm head that I tore apart They were as close as I could get.

You did good TFL. I'm wondering if the wire dia is spot on and perhaps the wind diameter. The Sub registers right in the bulls eye for a specific wire gauge. Mind you that may be pure coincidence as I don't think this is standard Kanthal. And it did perform well for a diffuse vape. We can do better TFL…much better. Stick around.

Good luck.

:)

PREVIEW: On the heels of a massive cloud…chain clouds at 15W…

you know I did consider the Erlkonigan awhile back. Thinking that is the one that you twist the drip tip to fill? Tell me what you think is good about it:)
