Hello all thought I'd drop in and say that I built 25 pro tank coils today just so we have em in stock at home. So instead of going for a new wick when its time just grab a freshly built one is the plan the clean the old ones burn the gunk off and rewick. Fabulous process.

Wow, impressed Jaime. But that's the idea. You build a redundancy process that works for you. Gives you the certainty you require. Say 25 is an ambitious approach, but hey. If you got the time, do the wind.

Good luck.

:)

I too built quite a few coils. Did them on my new handy dandy Pin Vise with the new drill blank. Tension was good and tight. Made them for a friend that came over with a bag of burnt of Kanger coils. She was impressed and said "OMG these look like professional coils" I was impressed too. 7 wraps was too much though (2.0) which surprised me. 6 was exactly right and came out about 1.7

Congratz chanel. It only improves with time like a good wine.

You'll learn to sense and taste the slight inconsistencies and variations in your wind and the way you finished your set. All these minor details in observation will only serve to help you perfect your motions. It'll become like second nature. Like the ritual of pouring yourself that cup of coffee or tea in the morning. Natural.

Enjoy and thanks for the feedback.

What gauge and size drill bit? I've still got plenty of new Kangers but I've got a few already dead so might as well get some supplies and start practicing!

So, where is everyone today? Do I have to send nude photos of myself?? You definitely don't want to see that!

Ok, I'll send some of Mac!!

That'll get something going!

Only Kidding, we all need a day off once in awhile.

Have fun fellow vapors!

Damn if I know what it is. Perhaps you can figure it out.

Good luck.

:)

p.s. Tensioned Contact Microcoil, tandem 9T on .07"Ø, 31AWG, w/twisted common positive. Yeah, 18-turns in a Protank...no harm, no foul.

Vaping it now. It's killer. Like a 454BB in a VW Funny Car. Don't think one of these has ever been done. Densest clearo experience I've ever had. 10 turns 29 on 2.2 is efficient and practical in the center of KPT performance but 12-18 watts on this is exciting. Better have deep pockets for the juice, is all. And certainly not something I'd want the kiddies playing with.

:D

Good luck.

I like 1.7 at 11 watts KGD with MVP for out and about.
I have one of my Taifuns that built out at 1.5 and vaping it at 12 watts (Vamo) with Ahlusion Lemon Cream in it all day today and it was great (also KGD)
Have another Taifun (that is problematic) with a 1.8 build and and have Lighthouse Fire Island in it vaping at 11 watts.
1.7 and 11W would be my choice but because I am new at this I do not always get what I strive for. I will start over if it is above 1.9 or below 1.5

crg, I don't think that's off topic at all!! After reading the 1st post on page 1, I think your question is exactly what this thread was created for.
:)
My usual go-to build for my PT's is 10wraps of 30g on a 1/16inch (1.5875mm) bit, around 2.0ohms. I was using cotton for about a year, but just started experimenting with rayon. I'd like to get a 1.8mm drill bit, my 2mm one doesn't fit in those slots.

Edit: around 7-8watts, 3.9volts.
..... let me go dig up Mac's chart of resistance values for different builds for.you, it is an amazing reference!

KGD is something I haven't tried yet. How do you like it compared to others?

Leg length has always been iffy for me with the Steam Engine calculator. Put in your 6 wraps and bit and gauge then play with the leg length number until you get 1.7 or so.

Yes you can do that Paul (but that would be fudging the statistic). :D

I agree, leg length to me seems to definitely be a hard on to calculate in my coil builds.
Most of the time I choose not to bother with them.
Just my opinion.

From A Galaxy Far Away

I've actually measured (yes I'm that ....) hundreds of coils on exit. Sadly, have done so periodically. I've found the mean to be about 16.25mm. About the best way to see how you are wrapping in terms of termination is to check a few of your own. Yes, there's a difference too. I recommend terminating in the direction of rotation which adds slightly to leg length (rather than straight down to insulator). This is measured from the point of exit of the turn for either lead. About 9 O'clock facing the axis of the coil. One will be slightly longer than the other. So were talking about a range here. Perhaps 16mm to 16.25. Some can go under (nut much). Conventionally wound coils can go considerably longer in both leg length and overall. If you wrap tight and terminate legs tightly that too will send you towards 16mm, and maybe lower slightly.

Good luck all.

:)
