Dry burn may help... but I would check the center tube to see if you have a lot of fluid fill before you do that... That can cause a tight draw as well but if you dry burn with a filled tube .. your going to end of creating a bad flavor in the atty and have to replace it if cleaning won't remove bad flavor.. Just IMHO!!

The tube should be off before you dry burn anyway. Otherwise you can't see the coil.

Secondly, dry burning creates ash on the coil, so be sure to wash it off after. If you have a small soft brush or acid brush, that'll help too. If you dont, you'll taste that ash in your next tank full.

You can clean those heads even rebuild if your into that. I have and many other have removed one or all of the top 1mm wicks on the Protank. Also and I just had this happen was sold Evod heads instead of Protank heads. The Evod head is shorter and has a smaller air hole. You don't have to replace the head after each filling just remove it soak it in alcohol and flush it out. I have a water pick which has a head on it that fits perfectly inside the hole of the evod and protank head and I run that for about 15 seconds to flush it out do a dry burn before you use it again or let it dry overnight. But I find that removing one or more wicks that lay on top of the coils does seem to help on feed and draw. I don't remove them all. some folks do away with the top wicks and use a larger coil wick. I have not tried that yet. I know of some to that have rewicked with SS mesh. I will try that on my next repair which seems far off as the seem to be cleaning up very well if I don't wait until after filling 3 times. LOL

i rebuild them myself. i have 4 protanks and i initially purchased 20 replacement burners. to clean i do as steve said, i soak in alcohol (i prefer to use 190 everclear or home made 170-190 shine i make myself rather than ISO) then i rinse in HOT water, blow as much water out as humanly possible, then reassemble and dry burn at 4 volts on my eVic for 5 seconds a burn, slap them in and they are god to go. i have personally found ( and maybe its just me) that if i just slap a new head in and start in on it, it only lasts about half as long before cleanings as it should. what i started doing on new burners is dropping my voltage down a bit and running a tank or two thru at the lower voltages before cranking things up. this gives the burner a good glazing and when doing this, i found i can turn up the volume so to speak and never get any burnt or gunky taste. i am an EXTREMELY heavy vaper and run thru about 5-7 tanks a day (dont say it, i already know) and doing things the way i do, a burner lasts me about 2 weeks before i need to clean it, and about a month before i need to rebuild it. get yourself some silica wick and kanthal wire and make your own burners. they are VERY easy to make and only take a few minutes to make and install. you can buy enough stuff for about 30 bucks to rebuild your burners pretty much forever...LOL....maybe not that long, but for a long long time. also, as someone else mentioned earlier, first thing i do with any new protank burner is pull the top and remove one of the wicks in the top. trust me, youll love it. one other thing ill mention for anyone new to the protank...DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE BOTTOM on it. i found if you look at the inside base that the rubber seal seats against that youll in some cases find sharp edges and burrs. if you find your protank starting to leak a bit, this is about 90% of the time the culprit. what i do is either snitch a seal off of an old burner ( ALWAYS keep all of your old burners for seals, parts, ect) and replace the messed up one OR ROTATE the seal 1/4-1/2 turn and DONT OVERTIGHTEN. just snug is good. ive seen people crank these things down so tight you couldnt hardly remove the bottom without pliers....

anyway, hello all. new to the forums, but had to throw my 2 pennies in the well.

Welcome and great point! I couldn't agree more. I believe I resolved alot of my leaking with evods and protanks by only snugging them down, both the heads and the tanks themselves. Maybe these "need" to leak a little bit too in the beginning, to lubricate the gaskets. Just a guess though, but I know none of my evods or KPTs leak anymore.
