Well today I bought 3mm silica wick and 32 gage kanthal wire, after I got home, I built my first coil. It turned out at 1.8 ohm's, the only thing, that I had a hard time with, was seeing these small coils. I also bought some ready made coils, but it is really easy to make these coils. It just makes sense to rebuild them, all you need is the wick, and wire, all the other parts you all ready have. I just made my first one basicly just like the original one. :)

I think it's interesting how opinions vary. I found the draw on the pro tank to be really tight. Airy is not the word I would use at all. As to leaking, the only time i have encountered any wire due to the "flavor wicks" that sit over the coil. For me, the butter zone seems to be four of the six strands from 3mm silica. I haven't had a leak since. Overall, I think the ProTank is dope

hey..i was trying to reply to another thread on the protank and for some reason it wont let me....actually it wont let me post anywere but here

for those of you who have tried the protank and complain about how "airy" the hit is on it. remeber, the metal thread protector (beauty ring) thats included with your protank acts like an air regulator on the eGo battery. with the protank installed and tightened up, screw the collar down for a more airy draw, screw the collar up for a tighter harder draw. with the collar screwed up, i found that the vapor production is outstanding with huge clouds of vapor. also remember your not hitting an analog. i own several Kangertech Protanks and use them almost exclusively. found that trick out early on.... if adjusted properly and one of the wicks removed in the protank, it pretty much outperforms just about anything ive used to date.i use my protanks on an eVic which doesnt allow for the collar to be used, but the tank screws down far enough on the top that its not needed. i do however keep them handy fr my eGo twist batteries and any other eGo style batteries i have as back ups.

ive seen lots of people complaining about the airy draw of the protank, but not one time someone mention that the included collar acts as an air intake regulator...

Protank leaking problems?

the protank inner seal mating surface is prone to burrs and sharp edges from the factory. ive seen a couple that had edges so sharp if you removed the base and screwed it back on, the sharp edges would cut the innder seal and it would leak right into the mouthpiece/tube.

two things to remember. NEVER overtighten the base. sqishing the seal down, sharp edges or not is a disaster waiting to happen. IT WILL LEAK. i tighten it down just barely snug and then install on my battery. it always gets another little twist going on, and seals just right

if your protank has sharp edges inside where the seal mating surface is (look with a magnifying glass or jewelers loope) get yourself a piece of fine emery cloth and glue it to a pencil eraser and spin it around in the mating surface of the seal.

OR

if you have a dremel tool ( this is what i use) get yourself one of the small flat tipped rubber polishing wheels for it and polish the burrs off.

with no burrs and base installed properly you can not beat the protank.

thanks for the info was really wondering about why so many people love it or hate it, atleast now i can fix any issues with it if i do get one :)

I have never had any problems with mine, other then dropping them. I have 4 and 2 tatroe tanks, which work the same, but they are all stainless, they won't break, use the same coils, they are great for work. I would like to try the mini pro-tank though, and the pro-tank 2.

I was also interested in the PT2. I think there were some legitimate concerns about leaking compared to the original, but for less than $20, I could see risking it. As for the mini, that doesn't appeal as much. I like that I can run for 8 hours at work on one fill, I don't really have time to mess around during the day.
I haven't dropped mine yet, but I would bet on the 510 connection giving out before the tank itself.

I didn't see anyone mention the Gotvapes air controller so I will. It's cheap, $3.45, and you can tune the draw on your ProTank, and many others as well, to your precise requirements. It is in fact made specifically for the ProTank and fits it exactly. Got mine drawing exactly the same as my Vivi Novas. Love it.

Is this it?

Dsim4: This is not glass, but it is providing a good vape for me. It is the vision victory. Not quite as good as the MT3S but it holds 5ml and it does pretty darn well! I did order the air flow regulator for my Pro Tank and it made all the difference in the draw. I don't like airy. It does not work well on my ego/Kanger batteries. I need about 4.0 volts for good vapor and taste. I have messed with so many of my bcc clearos, I can't remember what head I have in the Pro Tank. I think it is 2.2 ohms and it vapes well at 4.0 volts. just sayin....

I have noticed as well that getting the right atty stem length will also help a leakage probllem, the evod attys leak pretty bad i have gone back to the kanger attys

 I am confused. evod v. Kanger? I thought evod was Kanger? Which two are you talking about. I may have missed something here and I am learning a lot from this thread so please help me understand. I tried putting an evod head in my pro tank and it just didn't seem to fit right. I have a lot of evod heads so I was hoping to use them.....

problem chris is that the airflow controllers usually have a center pin that sway to long. what i do with them is install an old tank on the airflow controller and then chuck it up in a vise and file the center pin down to were its about even with the bottom of the male 510 connection on the bottom. if you dont what ends up happening is the center pin ends up getting pushed down and in some cases causing a dead short on your mod.. dont have the link offhand but if you search thru my posts on hee i posted some instructions on what to do and how to do it.
