I see lots of people have Protanks and lots of people are complaining about their Protanks. It also looks like lots of people are rebuilding their Protanks. The same seems true of the Vivi Novas as well, but it seems like 19 out of 20 posts are in regards to the Protank. Personally, I love my Kanger 510 Clearos, and hate my Viv Novas. One coil reads 3.4 and one read 5.1ohms until I played around with it and cleaned it up. Now it reads 4.1ohms. Both seems to give me a burnt flavor unless I run them at 4w or below. That seems low. They don't perform as well as my Kanger clearos.

I just bought a new Vivi Nova with a lower OHM coil and some Kanthal wire, in case I want to try rebuilding it. Or try and make something good out of bad.

Should I just be ditching the Vivi Nova? Are the Protanks better? Or is there an even better clearo tank out there?

Some have suggested carto tanks, but after doing some reading I have some concerns about leaking and the way the cartos are just tension fit. I'm clumsy enough that I have to take that into account.

I have used both and don't hate either. Viva-Novas were ok even with 100% VG - a couple drops of water, a little tilt-n-swirl and it worked fine. The Protank I don't even have to do that much and it works well.

Downsides to the Protank usually mentioned are an airy draw and cooler vape. According to my preferences those are both bonuses.

I don't like the taste of cartos so I've never used carto-tanks. Those that do swear by 'em - once they are set-up right.

News flash: All Clearomizers Leak and Flood!. True, but one learns to minimize the leaks and flooding, and to correct them quickly before they make a big mess.

Carto tanks do not leak. I have never had a carto tank leak on me. I use the IBTanked and Phiniac glass carto tanks with Boges (SR, regular not XL). To use, you need a carto punch and a tank tool. I've tried several of each and prefer the "Slap Yo' Mama" tank tool from Big Daddy Vapor:

My favorite carto punch is the Siam Mods tool (heavy duty compared to the smoktech ones that do wear out (threads will eventually strip)):

My Phiniac:

Easy to fill with my Innokin U-Cans (no room for more pictures). Also, a must because of the built-in drip tip. Very nice.

Best vape before RBA/RDA possible, imho. And the options are just awesome, i.e., sandblasting, colors, colored caps, different designs, etc. I have the dragon, the wife the Moon Fairy in purple. Titanium clear caps for me, anodized purple for the wife. Works of art are what they are, and no going back to clearos once you adopt carto tanks. That being said, some vapers can taste the filler material in cartos and dislike them for that reason. Some juices can gunk up the carto, shortening their life....mine do. So I use two cartos a week, BFD. $2 for cartos vs. $120 for smokes.....hhhmmmmm, that works. I use Boges, but I hear the Ikenvapes are to die for, just haven't tried them yet, as they are having website troubles at the moment. Maybe fixed by now.

Welcome to the Forum and Good luck to you. Power up and Vape On!
