Finally got around to applying the protecta-coat on my GGT, GGTS V1 and GGTS V2. Polished them up real good then neutralized the acids with the supplied neutralizer. Applied two coats with a foam paint brush. VERY happy with the results. No bubbles, no mess and really smooth now. Made sure not to apply any protecta-coat to any threads. If I am un-pleased with the coating after time, I can remove it easily with xylene.

Best of all.........NO MORE POLISHING FOR ME!!!!!!!!

Not too overly happy after a days use. Minor imperfections in the coating on the GGT, GGTS V2 should have been left to cure for longer before using as it is showing minor scratches in the coating and my GGTS V1 looks "dull". Probably gonna pick up some xylene today and strip all three mods and try again...................With AVS or AFS on the units you can really tell how dull all three look compared to bare metal on the AVS/AFS.

I just give mine a polish with a cape cod cleaning cloth and it maintains a mirror finish for ages.

Hate to touch it after a good cleaning though... I always have to wash my hands real good after a polish so my finger prints don't show for a while. Those Cap Cod Cloths sure make it easy don't they?

I miss my shine...........they kind of have a satin look to them now. Stopped by the hardware store and they don't carry xylene. I'mm gonna give it a few days to see if the coating cures more and becomes less dull.

Have you tried Mother Billet?, does a far better job and a lot less messy. Protects the finish longer too.

Any time you are using a polish of any sort it is going to be a little messy. The best part of the CCC is that it does not stick in the cracks and crevasses plus everything you need is in that can, the application cloth, polishing cloth, and even latex gloves to keep your hands clean.

I will admit I don't think I have tried the Mothers Billet but I sure will as soon as this can of CCC is all gone, which will probably be in about 5 years maybe longer. I am sure the MB is an excellent product but I think I am set for polishing stuff..

I get a perfect shine on my GGs so there is no real need for me to try anything else. Thanks for the tip though. A pic of my Trans after a real quick wipe down.

do you have to hit it with a buffing wheel ??? Because I scratch my GG's because I take them every where even to my work ... I've drop them plenty of times and I got that out with a buff wheel and rubbing compound...

I do that every couple of weeks with my GG's ??? If I dont have to buff them with Cape Cod cloths then I'm sold ... I'll probably try these soon ...

Ok, everything has been stripped and back to a glorious shine using CCC. Didn't have to use xylene either, the CCC took the coating right off with a lot of elbow grease. The coating started peeling really bad after about 4 days and I followed directions to the letter with this stuff. Not the best probably because a PV is in your hands so much and the GG is so smooth that the coating doesn't stick very well.

I'm still really happy with my CCC and there's nothing simpler, quicker or easier to use.

IMHO, avoid the protecta-clear/everbrite coatings.........not worth the trouble.

and nothing sticks on aluminium in a proper way. All alumunium mods that are coated will be destroyed soon. I have said that months ago but I still see coated aluminium mods. Its ok for me.:D
