My Protege charger just failed. Do any stores carry these or would another type of charger be able to work while I order one. Pure Smoker shows they are on back order and no local stores that I can find sell them. I have been off of cigarettes for 4 weeks and I dont want to fail now.
Thanks

I contacted Pure Smoker when I got the charger because it made a static noise when I first put the batteries in the unit but soon went away as they charged. I noticed one of the lights started to go dim the other day but it still worked fine. Now the lights are off and its only responsive if you tap the side. Tapping it got one battery to charge last night, now nothing. I have tried to charge with no lights and nothing.

Yeah, sounds like it got fried because of a shorted wire somewhere, nothing much you can do about that.

Wow. That's weird. When I got mine the right light it was a dim red/green when I used it. The left side still is bright and seems to charge just fine but I hope mine doesn't turn out like yours does. I haven't had my protege for a few weeks so I haven't been charging the batteries with it but do have another battery charger so I hope that one works fine if mine busts lol.

Here's a fairly inexpensive, USA sourced substitute for the Trustfire multifunction TR-001. I've read on a few candlepower forums that this Ultrafire wf-139 multifuntion charger is actually preferred by RC & Flashlight enthusiasts over the TR-001. Apparently the charge rate is somewhat faster; along with a few other positive features. I've ordered several times from Batteryjunction.com & can vouge that they ship FAST. They're located in Connecticut. Here it is:

Ultrafire wf-139 Lithium Ion battery charger 14500, 17500, 17670, 18500, 18650, 18670

Had my Protege and charger for about 5 weeks and a few days ago I noticed that the cord had separated from the stress relief grommet on both ends and was showing bare wires. Luckily, I caught it before it shorted out.

Although I know that the crew at Puresmoker would gladly replace the cord, time was critical and I found one at a local electronic store for $3.25 and the gas to get there.

It is the same cord as on my Toshiba laptop ac adapter. Since that adapter has failed, now I have 2.

Keep and eye on the cord, if it comes out of the grommet, it will short out the unit.

I have two of these chargers and they're great. Got them with battery combos (or something). It's nice to have multiples while preparing for a flight week.
