Has anyone found a good replacement for the silicone ring that is under the copper disk on the button for the Protege mechanical switch?

The one on mine is getting worn out and I'm having problems with consistency. I've taken it off and put it back on a number of times but it just flattens out again after a couple of pushes. I tried a couple of different sized o-rings but when I put them on they were too fat on the sides and the switch gets stuck.

Thanks for any imput!

This is the 3rd or 4rth protege I have read about today that people are having problems with. I think I'll steer clear of that PV. I wish I knew but there is people on here that know. Someone will read and let you know. Good luck.

This is the best mod out there!

I just squeeze the copper ring with pliers a little, it stays on just fine.

I have no issues with the Protege or any of my many PureSmoker products. I have nothing but great things to say about PureSmoker.

I'm just looking to see if anyone had any advice on this paticular issue. To me this is just general maintenance.

Thanks for the info on the braces bands. I'll see if I can get some of those. Any other ideas on what may work for this?

Thanks!

Perhaps before calling someone a name you might remember opinions are subjective. Everyone has one and they may vary wildly.

What does squeezing the copper ring have to do with replacing the little silicone/rubber gasket under the copper ring?

sorry about the dork comment!

I did nothing about the sillicone under the ring, I thought it was glue and was going to scrap it off the next time I took the ring off to sand it.

And back to the posters original question.....I noticed that my little silicone ring was getting messed up and had trouble with my protege firing right last night. Today I realized I had some dead 901 attys that had silicone rings on them, I had trouble with one that had fallen off (battery end). So took the old one off my protege and used one off the 901 atty, fit tight, but it works great!!! Cheap and easy solution for me.

Ahhhh! The love these threads hold! Can we all just post positive feedback and answer the original question at hand? There is not need for insults for this is everything we are teaching our younger generation not to do yet we continue to do it ourselves. PM Steve Nonmochoke if your problem has not been resolved. I am sure he has an answer for you. : )

Agree! Every thread gets hijacked by someone name calling and posting how horrible their device is.... It does appear to be a select few though who feel the need to post in each and every thread...

Just a tip on re-assembly that works well for me. If you put a thin layer of silver conductive grease on both of the contact posts and the copper ring the mech switch will fire much more reliably without having to cram the button down so hard. You can get it at most electronic supply shops, Fry’s or even eBay. It’s specifically designed for switch contacts. Don’t go crazy with it, a little goes a long way.

Cheers,

Dave

get 30,000 of em. lol

LMAO nahhh I'm actully thinking about making a plastic spacer for mine instead of using the rubber/latex band to eliminate the rocking since I lowered the shelf inside the switch body so the disc would have good contact with the posts, instead of turning them around and haveing a very small contact area.
