I swear I posted this yesterday but I can't find it now.

I have a ticket and a response to send it in for repair, but wonder if I can fix it myself somehow.

If I screw the cap on the battery it just stays on. It didn't do it the first hour I had it. But boy was it hot when I picked it up that last time! I'ved used it just by touching the spring to the battery and removing it, but obviously two handed is not ideal...:D

I took the switch out and looked at it (like that is going to fix it:rolleyes:) and put it back together, but it is doing the same thing.

Any suggestions?

I had the same problem w/heat, when I unscrewed the cap thinking it needed cleaning it promptly fell apart. I only had the Prodigy for 4 days. Ive read several instances of the same issues. I was very happy with the product, but I cant seem to order a new switch since they're out of stock. So now I cannot say I'm very impressed with this thing or the inability to order the part I need, and very aggravated with the fact that all correspondance has to be by email.
All in all, I am quite ...... with this unreliable product that seems to lack any significant R&D and the totally shabby customer service. I cannot and will not recommend this product to anyone at this time.

Hold on, Moto!
Did you unscrew the adapter with the batteries still in the prodigy? If so, then that will push the switch out. But that doesn't mean it's broken. I made that mistake when I first had mine. But I took the battery out, then put the switch and button together and put them back in, screwed on the adapter, and all was just fine.

Hey Shana .... :( I feel for ya, and I really do apologize! We'll get her better than new for ya so you can be happily surprised upon her coming back home to ya :)

Now THAT is great customer service!

@Adam,

Sorry to hear you're having problems. I don't think Steve actually manufactures the buttons and it would be a logistic nightmare to take each and every one apart to make 100% sure they're not going to fail.

I remember reading that they check them after assembly but some bad ones can and do fall through the cracks from time to time. :(
I know it's gotta be frustrating for you but please hang in there.
The Protege is soooooooo worth it.

Yes it's a PITA but Steve will make it right.
He always does.;)

I'm checking my mailbox eagerly everyday :). I haven't received the delivery receipt but am hoping you got it today as a loner SD I returned the same day was received today (haven't got that receipt either - gotta love the USPS).

This is my first PS product and so far I am satisfied that everything humanly possible is being done to repair and get it back to me!

I am a little shocked having looked on the forum after being away a few days the reactions of some people.

(Have I brown-nosed sufficiently to get mine back as quickly as possible???JK)

Good thing you have some nice posts to offset the ones that send Casey kickboxing!!

It is not Steves fault. It is whoever he got them from. It could be worse. I have sent mine switch in and know he will fix it and send it back. Yes it would be nice to have another switch around and he will have them soon. I do not belive they knew they were going to sell 500 of them in a few weeks. I can think of many new pv that have had problems in 1st run. Casey and Steve are doing a great job. It is also great to suport a USA made PV. I have nothing bad to say about them. If a sticky switch is the worst thing to happen to you, you should be happy. My Protege is the best I have used for a PV. Yes it sucks that it is not working right now, but Steve will fix it. They will take care of you. I will tell everyone that this is the place to go. I will say that Steve you need to take your better half out to a nice meal and a movie. She has been putting up with way to many crabby people. Mistakes happen and you fix them. What more can we ask for.

I see why Casey started kickboxing now... I would bet that this guy is the bag tonight.... lol....

Totally shabby customer service....ha ha it just goes to show that you can please SOME of the people SOME of the time, but NEVER all of the people ALL of the time... And I would also bet that this is one of the very last ones to get fixed...

Can't really blame a person for being disappointed if a product they paid for doesn't work like it should. Regardless of the reason.

He probably posted at the height of his aggravation. I can understand that.

I'm sure he will see the light once he realizes that everything will be taken care of professionally and quickly.

Just saying it's understandable.

The button, button housing, and switch are all supposed to be in three separate pieces. This is what makes the switch easy for us to repair, and makes the whole thing replaceable. That doesn't mean that the switch is broken. It is simple to reassemble. Just place the button into the button housing, then lay it into the grooves of the switch and slide it back into the tube.
