the most possible is that I will not make preorders and send the stuff to my sellers Seek. The reason is that we will have a delay like this because we would need 1 week for preorders, 1 week for letting customers change serials etc. So, I believe that in 10 days I will send all Proteus to my sellers and they will assemble and send them to you

Wow that is the best thing I've heard in a long time.

Hello Imeo,

first I want to congratulate you for the advance in safety, quality, and ease of use your VIR will give to the vaping world :) !

I really like your minimalist & perfectionist approach of ecigarettes !

However, I have a little question / suggestion for maybe a VIR-Proteus V2 :

would it not be cool to put the temperature setting on a ring ?

I.E not use 20°C steps but a continuous (or finely stepped) ring next to the firing button, linked to a potentiometer ?

Something resembling the air control rings...

I think it would really make temperature adjustment easier, faster and much more friendly :) !

What do you think ^^?

Very nice idea but I don't know how easily feasible it is.

thank you very much Ivan. I am very glad that you like the way VIR is made:)

First of all, VIR has 10 Celsius degrees steps for even more fine adjustments. As for the ring, it requires a lot of hardware on machine shop and also VIR will not be able to go in and out of the tube like a SIM card. We will finally have a complicated device without any advantage, only disadvantages.

thanks for your answer Imeo,

ok 10°C steps, I missed that update sorry ;)

I understand it adds complexity to the build but i'm sure you could find an easy way to make it simple while keeping the easy 'SIM' card VIR board mounting :D

Maybe instead of a potentiometer use a non-contact wheel measurement ?

A very cheap and easy method I can think of is Infrared sensors / leds.
The wheel would need a paper sticker printed with a pseudo-random black & white pattern so that the mcu can know the position with IR reflection.
Those sensors can be added at the very end of the pcb (right angle) and add minimal length (maybe a few mm).

images talks more I guess:

OpticalEncoderReflective.jpg

sensing principle (old tech, sensors with both LED and phototransistor in single component exists)

GrayCode-wheel.jpg
some example of absolute position pattern sticker..

Also one the user-experience side, I think it only adds simplicity, no?

- no need to go inside menu and count LED flashes to set temperature

- can know temperature setting just by looking at wheel / ring position
(have a cursor and engravings on tube ? no need to know real degree C but put numbers or dots ?)

- able to change temperature in the middle of a vape puff

- maybe finer temperature steps ?

anyway it's just my :2c: on this :D

I dont understand much of the design because I am not electronic engineer but the results of this construction look not bad Ivan:)

But these few mm you mention are not good enough for me. The reason is that I wanted Proteus to have the smallest length in the world in a way that no one would make something smaller. Imagine that it took me a whole year to find a factory to make the pcb for me just because I didnt want to add even 1 mm on this pcb :)

haha, I understand Imeo ;)

Perhaps If you can show the idea to your electrical engineer then maybe something even better can come out for next-gen VIR boards :)

Oh, I have seen the VIR pcb and it's really cool !

but I think it is possible to do an even smaller PCBA for the VIR :D !

Using circular stacked hybrid flexible-rigid PCBs...

imagine this "sandwich" but much smaller and closer to each other...

all connected between them with flexible pcb ribbon... like this

then all you have to do is to fold them over each other and stick them with special pcb resin (adds waterproofing :p)

...but I fear that it will be a bit too much expensive for GG mods for now lol... maybe when you are rich as Apple... which is soon :D !!

Although I believe that all these flexible connections may cause troubles in VIR... your last sentence says it all.
I don't want to buy an 80 inches tv set with 20000€
I can live with 60 inches with only 1000€ ;)

ahahaha
its not that I am rich or poor buddy. Its that it will be very expensive for you:)

haha guys !!

I think it can not be that much more expensive if there is a lot of units produced... as always, quantity makes the price..

When GG is No1 in e-cig this can happen !

imagine a 10440 GG mod with nanoVIR

Soon :D !

we can make everything Ivan but I believe that the current design is the best, because its very effective and very simple, just like all GG constructions:)
