fog, these "bigger" batteries have about 15 percent more mah than AW. Its nothing special to my opinion. Either you have to change batteries often on a 14500 e-cig but changing batteries is not an issue to my opinion when we will be able to keep a thin e-cig in our hands all day.
Telegonos is not bad. I saw it before some days but it seems like a China style e-cig. What I mean is that its a fixed design that you cant do anything on it. Its a factory product like the rest of China VW e-cigs. I dont badmouth anyone, I just say what I see. If I am wrong please correct me. And I mention this e-cig just because you put it on table
I own the (excellent) 17mm / 14500 electronic mod 'Telegonos' by Dicodes and this has reverse battery protection too, although not mechanical.

If this really is the reason for Proteus' botton top only design, I think the 'price' in limited battery choice is high. The small 14500 cells are already the Achilles heel from this format so to be able to use the best cells available is no luxery. From my own experience I know the differences are pretty clear and big during every day use.

As for the price of Proteus (that is 30 euros more expensive), you know already that the more featured an e-cig is, the more expensive. If I dont put air control, dont put a very small (so very expensive) electronic part that makes Proteus at 89,5mm,dont put an electronic that can go up to 25 watts with one battery and 35 watts with 2 batteries, dont put a mech button that outperforms all electronic buttons, dont put a removable electronic part, dont put 2 special spring loaded applications, dont put step down function, dont put the ability to work as a mechanical e-cig, dont put side holes for serious safety that cost a lot (10 times the price of front holes), dont put the ability to clean the electronic contacts very easy like they were mechanical, dont put an automatically adjustable center post, then it would be cheaper for sure

Hi Imeo,

I only mentioned Telegonos because it's also a 17mm /14500 mod. But thanks for your review anyhow... ;-)

I know you have to change 14500 batteries more often. I've been using them every day for months. But when the capacity from this size is already limited, why not get the most from it?

I can't convince myself to purchase Proteus because of battery capacity, but I haven't used a regulated 14xxx device. How many batteries do you go through in a day?

This depends on usage and Wattage of course. But I my case I vape around 4ml a day at 10 to 12 Watts. This takes 3 batteries a day. But the up-side of 14500s is, they are very easy to take with you... :)

Addition: 3 Efest V1s take me through the day. With AWs I need 4.

fog, I forgot to add to the proteus features something more, the most important of course. Proteus special feature that is secret right now, that will impress you so much that you will regret any other buy you did :)

Imeo, waiting for Proteus is hard enough as it is! Why make it even harder?!? You... You.... Aarrgghhh!

I like teasing fog lol

No, I just want you to buy the right thing. I also want you to get impressed by the right things, not just by "new" things

I will and I do Imeo. But sometimes you buy something out of curiosity and to make the waiting for the right thing a bit easier. :) And sometimes such a try-it-out purchase turns out to be pretty d*mn good. But this is not the place for that info & discussion.

My expectations for Proteus have reached almost mythical proportions by now! :toast:
