The battery life is really good on man. If I use it exclusively it will last a full day. Only thing is that they are putting different batts in the 30. My 20 has 2900 mah battery.

Oh ok. yeah i think they are putting the Sony VTC4's in the 30's which are 2000 mah. I have a 2000 mah battery in my Provari and it lasts me all day so hopefully it will be at least close to the same. I work seven hour shifts so really that's as long as I need it to last. I have aUSB wall charger adapter lying around so I guess I could just plug it in if I had to.

That 2900 mAh Panasonic battery is driving me NUTS right now. Why? I can't get it to die! You see, I need it to die to do a reset on the dna, which is stuck showing 0.0 ohms. It's been down to '1 bar' for several hours now. When my Vaporshark gets down to 1 bar, I've got a few puffs left. But this battery? It just won't quit! :D

I had the same issue the other day and I took it apart and unhooked the battery. Easier than you'd think. It's another thing I'm going to show in the review. I'm gonna film it Sunday.

Oh, I want a second one too. Basically a duplicate of my first (all black full-size). Plus I want a third and a fourth (minis) to keep RDAs on at my desk. Not to mention that I want a second Vaporshark DNA. Trouble is I keep wondering if I'll come across something I'll like/want more, and I don't actually need more stuff at all. :D

Hey Rossum, Aren't you on the list for an Pdib OliveR too? You rascal you... :p

I agree the battery life is stellar, I have a couple of the Panny 2900's that I run in my Provari and I can get two days out of them in that @ 4.3 with a 1.4Ω build in it. In the xpv about a day and a half... Vape about 2-3 mls a day... As always YMMV. ;)

Yes I am. Of course, it's completely out-of-character with all the other vaping devices that I own, which are strictly practical tools. However, the pictures posted in that thread spoke to me in a way that no other mod has, so I'm on the list despite my sentiment that buying a mechanical makes no sense.

rounding third and heading home...
just received my 1st xpv today- my initial impression is a simple "what took me so long?". this is a beautiful device and no pictures do it justice. the feel is just what i have always wanted in a mod. it feels as if it was made to be in my hand. i know that this is a "box mod" but that term doesn't really fit- i have a shanmod, fazedbox mod(the co. is no longer around, unfortunately)and a hana- those are box mods . this xpv, while a square, doesn't feel like those at all. it is a blending of the best tube and box form into something else.
the feel of the switch lets you know that this isn't some cheap "chinese junk throw it away in 4 months" switch. i am amazed that something that should look clunky and nerdy like the pocket clip actually looks like it isn't an add-on. form and function that works.
only time and real world use will tell if this is what i hope it is- a dna mod that is every bit the the equal to the dated provari. with their excellent customer service protovapor is off to a great start...
i actually think my r91 smiled at me when i put it on the xpv- the combo looks like they were made for each other. if you are on the fence about this device then jump off of it and order your first one- i suspect once you use it, like me, there will be more forthcoming. i am glad i have become a protovapartist.......

Indeed. All business. No frills. And the balance in the hand is just right with an R91/KFL too, whereas my Squape made things a bit top-heavy.

I believe I owe it to SvoёMesto to buy a real KFL+ as a reward for designing what seems to be the best darn RTA on the market right now -- and I feel somewhat guilty for running a Chinese knock-off. However, I may just have it media blasted. ;)

I have a few mechanicals because I want to love them and I want it to click why others are so die hard into them. I use them on occasion when dripping, but the only point in my mind is to use them for really low sub ohm.

you shouldn't feel too guilty about the russian- the company is actually started by an engineer who designed the kayfun in the first place- a corporate defection and not just a blatant rip -off. they chose to build it in china for a price advantage, but owning both the kfl and r91 they didn't sacrifice anything in the build quality. i actually prefer the r91 over my kfl. china does produce a lot of junk, but they can produce quality if the company is willing to pay for it- just like any place else. UCT has obviously decided to produce quality products and i have no qualms about giving them my business.....

So, my xpv was sent out from Hawaii on the 12th and its in customs now in Montreal (Canada 2hrs away). Wow. I think the Protovapor guys should talk to some of the Canadian suppliers, I order from Canadian companies and it takes longer to get to me than this device will from Hawaii. In fact i made an order from a Toronto on the same day my xpv went out and it hasn't even left yet. Anyway, amazing service and an amazing device (borrowed one already). Can't wait.

I've heard that before, but I've never seen any evidence of it. Even if it's true, there are a lot of questions. For example, was the the engineer in question an employee? If so, then he was doing "work for hire" and the rights to anything he designed while so employed would belong to the company that employed him. If the engineer in question was not an employee, but an independent contractor or consultant, then in the absence of written contracts, the whole thing is more of a gray area. But in the end, I don't put a whole lot of credence in such a story. As the owner of a (not vaping related) business which has been dealing with Chinese clones of my company's products for close to a decade, I'm all too familiar with the shameless lies that Chinese clone purveyors will tell people in a pathetic attempt to convince customers that what they're selling isn't a blatant rip-off.

Back to the actual XPV and the insane Panasonic 2900 mAh battery: I went through more than half a tank in the R91 today with the battery showing no more than 2 bars, much of it with it just showing 1 bar, and some of it showing 0. The DNA's battery gauge on the XPV with this this Panny behaves totally differently than the one in the Vaporshark with its 1200 mAh LiPo. On the Vaporshark, when you're down to just one bar, you'd better be close to a charger, 'cause you really don't have much left. With the Panny in the XPV, there's a whole lot left; to me it seems way more than the 2.4:1 mAh ratio would suggest.

Anyway, the XPV didn't stop firing until 5:00pm. Ever since then, I've been trying to get it to discharge enough to reset the DNA. I've got a rubber band pulling a pen against the fire switch, but the "Check Battery" mode (which seems to actually consume some real current, as evidenced by a bit of flicker in the display) that mode times out after ~30 seconds. I certainly haven't kept it in that mode continuously, but I've put it into that mode numerous times, but this crazy battery's voltage has refused to drop low enough to allow the DNA to reset. I'm starting to think taking it apart would have been easier. The cool thing is that by doing this, I've discovered just how awesome that Panny battery is and I've decided that my next XPV will be another 20, with the exact same battery. :D
