I'm super happy all the impatient folks are sending status update emails and wasting production time. I hope they shut down ordering or bump these people back. Only seems fair considering their website explicitly asks not to send emails for a status update unless it is 48 hours past the posted lead time. From what I've seen they are holding up their end and shipping units within the windows they stated.

Not sure about weeks ahead of production as I have had both of my XPV's for some time but I paid in advance of the mod being made and shipped. Not that uncommon for places to process payments before production when ordering a " custom " item.

Understand about 'custom' items, wondering about that practice as it relates to the statement Protovapor made on their website about current legislation being considered by the Hawaii legislature.

From the Proto website, note final sentence ;

Like in many jurisdictions around the nation, vaping in Hawaii is under major attack. There were several bills in the legislature, the last one standing is SB2495, which is a comprehensive, extremely damaging bill, that regulates ecigarettes as tobacco and forces vaping businesses to become tobacco businesses. It imposes an unspecified tax on businesses as well. This bill threatens to destroy the local industry and will likely put us out of business.

Link to text of proposed SB2495 ; Bill Text - SB 2495 - Hawaii 2013-2014 Regular Session - Open States

Seems there is the potential for the 'Protovapor Experiment' to end very badly for all involved.

As Rossum posted some pics, I have taken my XPV top cap off to place another oring around the center post thereby raising it up just a little. My attys were not making a connection as the center pin was being covered up somewhat by the oring sliding slightly above the top of the center pin and the pin riding too low in the connector.

All looks very well put together inside. My only, and it is a slight gripe is the 510 connector they used. Would be much better with a spring loaded center pin and a better type of center pin isolator so the pin doesn't get pushed down so easy.. IMHO.

Other than that, this device is well worth the money and time waited for and looks and performs wonderfully.. Light weight and has a super nice switch and watt adjustment toggle. Plus usb charging port.. A++

I could have probably went with the dna20 chip and been very well pleased. As I won't use 30 watts ever.. :) Form factor is a major plus over box mods. This thing is easy and comfortable to hold and pocket in the shirt without excess weight pulling your shirt off..

rounding third and heading home...
I don't feel like spending $200 and expecting some customer service is unreasonable.

you are right- it's just your idea of customer service shouldn't involve answering e-mails for questions that have been addressed already on the web-site. or holding an anxious customer's hand all the way through ordering to delivery. that is the definition of unreasonable- protovapor has delivered my xpv(and others) on time and with excellent customer service. on this and every other thread on ECF it seems there is a few who think it is their job to hound every supplier and manufacturer into delivering their products yesterday and can't understand why their order isn't the most important priority on everybody's mind. someone should really come up with a cheese flavored e-liquid to go along with all the whines ......

Look guys I went around with protovapor and in the end it was a misunderstanding on my part by something I read. A man said his order number was higher than mine and his shipped before mine. Turned out he ordered off the old site so when it got put through on the new site it came after me. They told me they would ship mine within the lead time give or take a day or two. Which is amazing considering delays on other dna 30 mods. Maybe what they said was a bit harsh but I can understand why they would be frustrated. Regardless they answered me very quickly each time (rare nowadays). They are known for great customer service and that is important after you receive your device too. They sell a quality product also. I was just as frustrated as some of you, I have never spent this kind of money on a mod but trust me once you get that shipping notice it's all better and you forget about it. TO THE MODERATOR: I only posted a whole email because the quote I posted prior made their company look bad without the rest of what they were trying to say.

Thanks for the update! Protovapor really is a great company.

And again, I just want to reiterate I really think the order numbers are ENTIRELY RANDOM!!!

I don't see Protovapor as a "experiment" but maybe I am misunderstanding the context of how you are using this term. They sell a high quality DNA mod at a very reasonable price and are delivering them faster than any other DNA modder out there as far as I can tell.

I also don't see them going out of business unless they just don't want to hassle with adjustments that might need to be made if said regulations come to fruition.
I would be willing to bet that Protovapor is not making a fortune selling these devices. If these regulations come about I think PV has options. Move manufacturing, sales or advertising to another location other than Hawaii. That would be expensive and we as their consumers may have to pay for it to a certain degree but I could live with that. The price vs. product received ratio is already heavy on the product received side IMO.

I honestly think PV could blow all other DNA modders out of the industry if they wanted to or had the capacity to do so.

I'm order 276 and hasn't shipped yet, just passed the minimum ten day processing period from when I ordered. Does anyone know if they are shipping in numerical order?

Got silver with black trim and black clickey button... I've been refreshing the page every single day hoping that it will ship... even on a sunday lol. I can't wait for my DNA 30

I dont think you can rely on numbering. You should be getting notice in the next couple of days since you are in the range of what they have stated.. Enjoy.. It is a nice PV!

Actually... Vaperev has the KFL+ in stock again..

The weird thing -- and I'm almost ashamed to admit this -- I think I like my R91 better.

Just got a Russian 3 days ago.
1st rebuildable .. other than the needlessly tiny screws, building & wicking was easy.
It's certainly a step forward flavor & smoothness wise - but it sure gulps down juice !
Came with a silica wick, tried it & then tried some cotton. I get the cotton thing now, a nicer experience in every way.
Clark will be pleased, more of my $$ will be headed his way as I've become a nicoticket fan lately.

I have both as well and they both have pluses and minuses. The biggest plus for me for KFL is the bigger deck screws which makes it a little easier to build on. The biggest plus for me for the R91 is the side airflow control because I can actually use it unlike on the KFL. I just saw on Vaporjoes that Kebo or whatever the company is called that makes the russian is making an all black version which would look sweet on my all black XPV. Has anybody had any experience with the Expromizer. I really hope an American vendor starts stocking them so I can try one out.

Yes, the side airflow control is handy on occasion, but once I get it dialed in, I really don't mess with it very much. I can't say I've noticed the difference in the size of the build screws either, I suppose because I haven't had them both apart at the same time. After a solid month of using the R91 as my primary atty, it still has the first and only (micro) coil I built for it in it, all I've done to it is to dry burn and rewick it a number of times. I think the real reasons I prefer the R91 are the finish and the mouthpiece. The media blasted finish doesn't feel as cold and metallic as the KF's, and I really like the shape, feel, and performance of the mouthpiece on the R91 (which I assume was copied from the previous KF design).

However to really make a fair comparison, I should probably swap the juices I have in them. The R91 has always had a fruity 35/65 (PG/VG) blend in it (which I vape more of than anything else), while the KFL+ has been running a 100% VG (Bobas) since I got it, and the only way to properly compare two atties is with the same juice in both.
