So here is my thoughts after some more time with the XPV.
Loving it, love the size, love the shape, love the very ruggedness that it exudes.
The button is interesting, its like a squishy/clicky button, has a nice feel to it, has a lot of throw in the button, it was really loud in the clickyness at first, but has toned down a bit already which is good.
Love the position of the fire button, right up on the top as close to the 510 connector as possible.
The little potentiometer/rocker thing is really nice, I like it a lot. It has kind of a spring loaded quality when you push it, it is not quite like anything I have seen before, and seems like it should last a long time, and feels good when adjusting.
Usb port feels nice and solid.
510 port seems 100% sealed, can't blow any air through the top.
Kinda wish I got the Red button, but all black is nice too.
I will be testing it's battery life through today.
At first I couldn't really figure out why they placed the screen where they did, but last night while vaping in bed in the semi dark, it dawned on me, generally you will be firing this with your thumb, and the way you hold it when firing that way, the screen is pretty much hidden from view to you, and to other people. If you fire it with your index finger, then the screen is facing you. Most of the time you don't need to see the screen, so it is actually nice to have it kinda hidden away by your hand 90% of the time, and for the 10% of the time you do wanna look at the screen, you fire with index finger and all is good. When in low lighting areas, that screen is pretty bright.
If you were vaping in the dark, and the screen was on the same side as the button, your whole face would light up aqua blue.
I have a couple mods I would like to do to my XPV, and maybe if ProtoVapor is listening they would think about doing this stuff for V2 or as an upgrade to the stock unit;
I would love to countersink all the screws, and looking at it, I am pretty sure I could do it myself with a drill press (which I have).
I would also love to see the Black XPV come with Black screws! I think I am gonna hunt around for some black or other color anodized screws for my XPV.
I think I am gonna swing by a car tint shop and ask for some small scraps, I would like to darken the DNA20 screen a little bit.
As a future mod, I think it would be sweet to have a custom top plate made at a machine shop, that has the 510 connector actually milled out of a solid piece of metal, instead of a standard 510 connector pressed into the top plate as it is now. That would allow total flush mounting, and could even possibly include an adjustable center pin, and would all around increase the durability I think.
Loving this thing, and excited that it seems like it will be quite easy to customize and mod out a little if that's your thing.
