Or another US manufacturer can just make high quality VW tube. Then we could end all the pissy "doesn't do this", "mil-spec", "no innovation", "you just don't understand because you don't own one" BS. A new legion of fanboys would have a new device.

From my point of view, a Provari is what it is now. I'd be interested in a Provape take on VW but I wouldn't think of it as a Provari.

Too many answers, inserting inline, while trying not to butcher your point :)

Two reasons that I can think of, it simplifies the design and works with the chipset they are using.
Provape makes one of the best expensive PVs with a large user base. Updating hardware for the better is a good thing. It may possibly increase their user base and win over a lot of Vamo/Evic money.

My lava tube fires in my pocket all the time, my Provari doesn't. My lava tube will change the voltage while in my pocket, my Provari doesn't.
I think this has little to do with number of buttons, and more with quality. I have a Vamo already. Now I would like it in Provari quality. There's tons of cheap options available, and realistically only one with good quality.

Be it with people, cars, electronics and so on! Look at the Iphone and Ipad, really, there's only one button we use most of the time.
IPhone/IPad/Mac have very good design, but they lose quite a few customers to the rigidity of their design. Their mentality of "whe know what you need better than you do" is the reason I use Android. I understand your point. One well designed button is good. More buttons doesn't have to be worse, and can be better :)

I think I understand. There are people (I'd call them purists, but without the offensive tone of it) that like Provari as it is. Yes, it's a very good PV. Provape is already a trusted brand, so it wouldn't have to be another manufacturer. What is stopping Provape from making more than one model?

I imagine a 3-button OLED-sporting VW tube made by Provape would sell fairly well. Darwin did, despite some design shortcomings. And I don't think it would lead to holy wars between the VV and VW fanboys. I have not seen any arguments on Reo's forums about how VV Reo is better than mechanical or the other way around.

I know it's somewhat apples to oranges, but there's plenty of military grade shock/water/scratch resistant phones. Most of them have manage more than one button, and more than 3x7 pixel screens :) Of course, TFT would be serious overkill on a PV, but I'm sure OLED is possible. I can add Nokia meme here, if you'd like.

As a matter of my opinion (which is subjective), forget the screen. It may be silly looking and antique, but it does the job. But if they can make one reliable button, why not add two more -- for up and down voltage and whatever else you may need?

These cost over $500 w/o contract, or at least they did. Provape already catches enough flak for being expensive. I only assume adding a new screen, redesigning the circuit & tube to incorporate more buttons, etc would spike the price.

More moving parts, more to fail.

Kind of where I was going but my mind is shot at the moment.

Provari-Awesome VV device

X device by any US/Euro manufacturer --Awesome well built, not zmax chipped VW device.

I think there is a market for both. I don't see the need to make the Provari something it is not. If Provape does make the Provari 3 VW, I can almost guarantee at least the 2.5 will still be sold next to it. I assume there will be a price difference, at least to help offset dev costs, so the Provari as we know it will still be a viable product.

I just found a few for $20 and less. They sell for $500, they don't cost it :) Price would be defined by demand rather than making cost, just like it does with most expensive PVs. I was happy to pay about 150 for my mechanical Reo, though I doubt it costs that much in materials and machining.

I agree adding VW may well increase the base customer, but without the proper chipset they then become one of the Chinese competitors themselves. If they were to use what's on the market now (other than the DNA boards) they drop from 800mhz to the 37mhz the others use. (I can't honestly say what the DNA boards run at?)

Maybe some of it is quality, but most of it is that the buttons do not lock out! I'm assuming the Vamo is the same way, hit one of the up or down buttons and it's going to change! If some lock out feature were to be introduced then wouldn't we be right where the Provari already is? Push this button five times, enter the menu and unlock the buttons? This is about the way the Evic works isn't it? The Zmax is a one button operating system and I don't hear the complaints with it's operation?

Yeah, I'm not an Apple fan myself, and I agree completely with your sentiment! But I'm an Iphone user. I've had buddies dump Iphones and go Android, just to come back to them because the would lock up or do something funky instead of working. I really wish Nokia would have continued developing in house rather than going to the windows/android set up, they really had some great phones with some great OS!

I have an honest question here. This is on the Price comparison only.
Why it it that everyone Points out the Provari is only XXX or the Blim is just XXX ( both being unit only prices and Color/size specific) against the Full kit cost for the other units in discussion?

i.e.
I was looking at the Evic, the Zmax SS and the Provari. At the time the Evic was listed for $145, the Zmax was $125 and the Provari $165
Looking on the site(Provari) pricing depends on several factors for unit alone and also varies in full kit pricing dependent on the unit chosen and features needed. Not that $217.00 is a bad price, but why hide that fact in discussion?

Oh, and eVic complete was released with a recommended selling price of $104.00 Kit - Only Profit reapers asked more without offering additional included items.

Of note is that the provari kit is the only one with decent batteries

I would say this and base in on basic tube (or tube with battery for evic) price

Provari--160
Evic--100
Sig Zmax--70

I appreciate your comment to me, and constant knocks, and insults. However, I think I'll wait to see what the OP wants, or is looking for in v3.0.

no offenses taken - gentlemen! this post was merely to get more information on the history of the provari from 1 to current model. I'm not necessarily looking to pull the trigger on an apv at all or feature comparisons . (i'm still 1 month rocking my ego-t) I am more interested how provari has taken an Apple-like status in following, quality ,reliability etc. Also how the tech and innovation is being pushed behind pv's. I think it's interesting new pv's are coming out as quicker than cellphones! - hope I didn't kick a hornet's nest! (well I kinda knew it would...)

btw - ECF has some of the nicest people I've seen in forums - some of the video game forums I'm on - that's a whole nother story!

The mini I bought was $159, I added the blue LED and two 18350 batteries. Total cost, $160 + $15 + $18= $193 shipped to my door.
The Evic came with one battery and the USB cord, $149.95 was the cost around Thanksgiving.
The Zmax was $125.95, tube only around Thanksgiving.
So breaking this down, I spent about the same on my Provari, with free shipping, as I would have on an Evic by the time I bought the unit and payed shipping.
I spent $34 more, for the tube alone, than I would have on a Zmax, but would have had to pay shipping on top of that, so say $12 more, $22?
I've nothing to hide here at all. Yes, you can buy both of these units considerably cheaper now, but at the time I was ready to purchase, these were the prices they were selling for.
For giggles, I went to litecigusa.net SS Zmax, $99.95, two Sanyo 18650 batteries, $19.90 and a Trustfire charger, $12.95, with free shipping on orders over $75, I get a grand total of= $132.80
So that is $77 less than ordering a Provari mini, two batteries and a charger, all from Provape.

I was gonna say I bought an Evic from the first shipment my B&M got of them for $104. Where was it $165? Plus, I would like to know where can I get a full kit for $65 without preordering and waiting a month or 2 for it. Looking for another one for someone else and $65 with the full kit would be sweet as pie.

As far as the provari I would buy one if it had a puff counter. That's where the money is at is puff counters. Now that I have used something with a puff counter I would probably be lost without it so definitely would pick up a Provari if they updated to one with a puff counter. Puff counter.

I never said $165 for an Evic, I said $149.95, which is what it's listed retail price was on the Joyetech site. Again, this was initial release price.

Thank you.
One thing I have noticed is an awful lot of people do not seem to realistic in their shopping.
I do like that Provape is the only logical choice(US shopping) for the Provari. Go to the source whenever possible.

I don't understand people Paying or constantly saying the eVic is $104.00 and not doing their homework. Joyetech set the Recommended minimum Advertized price. Something an authorized dealer must accept. However many/most Dealers have offered serious discount codes to work around this since Release Date. I have seen, with code, pricing as low as $68.95 Kit.

Don't get me wrong, this does not give it argument over a Provari, however it does place it well within the price range of new vapers or those that just like to venture.
For myself it was a no brainer. I got cost pricing $57.00 to door. As a bonus I got a replacement head due to their recall. Turns out my original was not faulty as most in the recall were not.(recall=cya) So, with the addition of a Tube my cost dropped to $34 per unit.

Obviously I will never get any kind of a deal on a Provari anywhere near that. So, for the price, why not use the eVic as a learning tool to advance my knowledge in the fields of VV and VW vaping?
Then when funds are better and I am comfortable with my gained knowledge, and for me that could take a while, I can look at upgrading to a top of the line unit.:)

As I said before, had I bought one at the original price, then seen what they sell for now, I'd be ......! But at the time I was ready to buy and that would have been a costly mistake on my part.
I also thought about your logic, start cheap and upgrade if needed. The problems arose with this logic quickly. I'm on a very limitied income, my wife's salary barely covers the bills, anything I want/need above and beyond that, I have to find a way to come up with the money myself. This may not sound difficult, but with a broken back and most of my skill set being in physical labor, it's a daunting task!
I'm also very hard on things and I know this. Such was the learning curve with my Lava tube. I got it for $40, so I wasn't out much, but honestly, it's junk! Every time it hits the floor I'm sure it's the last time I'm going to use it! I'm also an idiot, I don't want to accept I'm a cripple, I still try an live life like I used to, as I can. I work on cars, lawnmowers, chainsaws, go cut down trees when I can etc.
So reading the reviews on the Evic, it was out almost immediately! It wouldn't take the abuse I was going to dish out!
Next was the SS Zmax, but as I said the size was larger than I really wanted, I loved the size of my BB and the mini Provari fit that size.
So, was I better off to trash the $40 LT I already have, and buy something else in that price range hoping it would hold out? Buy the Zmax and save $22 and hope it held up? Or just bite the bullet and get what I hoped would stand the punishment and be done?
I cut and split firewood that I sold and did a head gasket on a Honda CRV to come up with the money for my Provari. I was laid up for two days after each job, but they got done, I got the money, spent it once and think I did it wisely.
I constantly hear people complain about the price and how expensive it is. Sorry, you have enough to buy $5-12 packs of cigs and that's ok? But you can't justify spending the price of four? cartons of cigs to get something that will work and last? Hogwash! I'm broke as broke gets! I can give you a list of my Dr bills that would scare the bejesus out of most on here, but it was worth it to me to bust my .... and get something that would last and work with the abuse I deal out.
Sorry about my rant.

Hey, Rant on, some times it helps to get it out.:)
I'm on an IRS budget and will be until Dead or they put me on the streets. Either way, I'm done for. 60 and broken down, having to manage a minimum of 3 day overtime per month just to make the minimal bills, more to get a toy, or juice, and working 12hr shifts shipping products that often are 2/3 my weight. I've already collapsed at work and was out for a month recovering, so yes I understand your logic.

I also would like to see a 3.0 Provari. No, I don't have any ideas of what features it could have. I am a consumer, my job is to spend money and consume product, and I do both, very well! I still use my 1.0 on a daily basis and have done so for well over a year. Provari is the best in the business, and no this is not subjective, it is the best product in the market. I would love to buy a new one, the 2.0 brought nothing of value to me. The new colors were silly. I would like to buy a new one, just waiting for Provape to give me a reason to spend my beloved money. Mechanical with a kick is interesting, and a new overall design would be nice (not that the current one is bad). A bottom firing button, a box version, a stealth Provari would be nice. A Provari rebuildable that is not genesis would be amazing!
