I was gonna suggest a Mini if you have a standard; or a standard if you have a Mini.

If going with another type of mod, though, I suggest one that has the same size/type batteries as your primary mod. I now have 8 mods that use up to four sizes of batteries. `14500, 18350, 18490, & 18650. I have a minimum of four of each size, and six in 18650 size. That's a lotta batteries.

I would wholeheartedly suggest another ProVari. I just got my backup ProVari. It is a another full size, but I got it with 18490 batteries and no extension cap, so it is like a mini to me since I use my other ProVari in 18650 mode at all times.

i don't see any reason to get a full size provari when there are now 18 650 extension tubes for a provari mini. Just get a mini with 'twins' tube instead of a full size. Or if your back up mod is for while your out and about (work or partying) then get a cheap and durable mod like an ego twist, vamo, sid or svd, if it breaks or is lost or stolen you wont cry too much.

I though this was going to be another train wreck thread, so I stayed out.

Baditude has a good point about batteries. Not sure if you are using 18350 or 18490 or both. I have two size, 18650 of which I have 7 batteries. 18350 of which I have 6. Not wanting to add 18490 to the mix, when I ordered the ProVari I went with the 18650 extension cap.

I guess what you get depends on what size batteries you want to use. Sigelei V2 Zmax can use one 18650 or two 18350's, Vamo can use either one 18650, one 18350 or two 18350's. The V3 Zmax telescope and can use 18650, 18350, and the 18490. Something like the Spinner or the itaste VV/VW would make a decent backup also.

Of course you could do like the others said, and get another ProVari. Whatever you choose, I hope you are happy with it.

Personally I'm getting a mechanical for a backup. Even though I don't really need a back up as I am pretty much off nicotine. I have days where I forget my Provari at home and it doesn't really bother me. I still very much enjoy the sensation...so my "backup" is going to be a mech mod that I plan to mainly use at home for dripping.

If you want something for $80.00 with some ... behind it, look into the L-Rider Lambo 6.0. I was impressed with the test results, and it's not a 33.3Hz signal device.. a single device would be cheaper, but all I can find is the kit. I'm considering one just to play with.. ;)

ElectronicStix.Com · Lambo 6.0 VV/VW Device

Test Results: ( look at the 1.0 ohm coil @ 5.0v.. 25.1 watts, and it actually delivers 5.0)

Doesn't look half bad. Wish it had a flat top though.

If you can wait for a month or so, I'm pretty sure the "DNA20" Chinese clones are using this same chip, and I saw pics of one in a telescopic flat-top.. How dependable will it be? Who knows.. I have 3 ProVari's for dependability.. ;)

EDIT: As for the Lambo 6.0.. If I get one, more than likely a ProVari ring will fit on it to make it a flat-top. ;) I would buy it before a Vamo, or other 33.3Hz device any day.. :)
