I got my black satin Provari Mini v2 with Blue LED in the mail today. Here are my first impressions and a question.

Damn is this e cig sexy. It's beautiful. I love that I can change the voltage for more or less vapor. The display screen is awesome.

Here are no issues with it:

It is heavier than my kGo. I got the mini because I carry my e cig in my pocket a lot and this unit is still considerably heavier than the kGo. Though in my pocket it's really not a huge deal. I still forgot it was in my pocket.

The button is not as responsive as the kGo. You really have to push it down. I'm sure ill get used to this.

The biggest problem is it is kind of awkward to hold because its so short. There is nowhere to put my pinky. I plan on getting the extension cap so this shouldn't be a huge problem.

I still need more time to know how well the battery life is.

Here are a few questions I have:

I have 1.7ohm and 3.0ohm cartomizers currently. How high of a voltage can I go? I don't want to burn the cartomizers. Anything past 4.0 voltage makes my 1.7ohm cartomizer smokey.

The mode where you check your battery is confusing to me. It said like 3.7 or 4.0 or something. How can you tell what % of battery is left?

Just be careful if you get E1's as that is the over-current warning. If you get E8's keep an Eye on it cuz if you start to get a lot you may need to return it. I was running way to high a voltage on some of my atts and was getting E1's then I started getting E8's. I ended up having to send it back. But they got it back 5 days after i sent it in. May want to consider the extended warranty that would give you 2 years total coverage. I love it. Damn rugged if you don't abuse it. LOL I was into the big throat hit for a while but got over that so the lower voltage is not a problem now. LOL

you'll get used to pressing the button all the way in. Also, you can try resting the bottom of it ON your pinky. As far as battery life.. I get around 3 to 3.5 hours with a 2ohm carto at 5 volts before the button starts its slow beeping. There are 2 red beep speeds. The first is a warning, and the 2nd is faster, and its a warning that your battery will die in the next couple hits. When your checking the battery with the CB menu option, if its showing 2 different numbers, its a rough estimate of where your battery is at.

With a 1.7ohm cartomizer... What is it checking out as when your checking its ohm? If its around 2ohms, you can go up to or around 5 volts in my opinion. If its more around 1.7 or 1.6 then you'll probably be OK to go as high as 4.5 volts or around there. If your not getting an Error message then your probably gonna be fine. You have to learn to adjust the voltage to taste and by doing that, you'll eventually memorize where you like your voltage for different resisted cartos.

yeah, just tried the 1.7ohm at 4.5v and got major smoke. Went down to 3.5 and it was ok.

So I need to get duel coiled cartomizers if I want to go above 4.5?

Oh and another thing that really bothers me about this e cig is that I'm left handed and the display screen was designed for right handed people. You have to hold it awkwardly to see the screen upright if you're left handed. I'm a little disappointed with this unit so far. :-\

The battery reader said 3.7 then 3.6. What the hell does that mean? 3.7 hours left of battery?

Noobies.

It's reading the battery voltage just as it was designed to do. When your battery comes off of the charger, it should read 4.2 volts. When the power switch starts blinking, it's letting you know that the battery voltage has drained down to 3.4v or 3.5v. time to replace the battery.

So in other words, it's not telling you time, but voltage. 4.2v down to 3.4v is usable battery voltage.

The biggest problem is it is kind of awkward to hold because its so short. There is nowhere to put my pinky. I plan on getting the extension cap so this shouldn't be a huge problem.
I cup my hand around the Provari and use my middle finger to compress the switch.

So I need to get duel coiled cartomizers if I want to go above 4.5?
No. Single coils are better. Standard or high resistance. 2.0 - 3.0 ohm

That's a new one. Now people need left handed e-cigs.

It means the remaining voltage dropped 0.1v while you were pressing the button. You will see it do that a lot.

And NO! You do not need dual coil cartos, just a higher resistance carto. If you go to Provari's information page, you will find that they suggest using 3 ohm cartos. This will allow you the widest voltage adjustment range that works well.

No, you just need to use standard resistance single coil cartos or clearos. I.e., 2.4ohms or above.

I'm a lefty too, and us leftys have had to adjust to living in a right-handed world. I don't have a Provari, but I suspect that once you get used to it you probably won't even need to look at the screen that much. I've got PV's that have the same basic button configuration as the Provari, and I don't even notice it anymore. You will quickly adapt to it.

Yeah... I don't really understand the left handed thing at all lol. Like.. if I switch it to my left hand.. its the same configuration, but its now in my left hand? lol. If I use my pointer finger to press the firing button.. It doesn't matter what hand I have it in... the screen is facing my body and I can easily see the screen if I need to cycle through the menu. If I am using my thumb to press the firing button (which is what I prefer) it also doesn't matter which hand I have it in... I still turn it around and use my pointer finger to cycle through the menu. lol. For the price, your getting a mod that feels like a block of steel, with the custom teardrop machined grip, the most accurate and advanced variable voltage technology on the market today, a 1 year fix or replacement warranty and a lifetime of fix or replacement for a fee after the 1st year. Considering you can't get a good medium rare steak dinner at a 5 star resturaunt for under a quarter of the Provari's price, I'd say its a pretty good deal without the left handed option lol.

Thanks that chart was helpful. :) I switched to the 3.0 ohm and looks like 3.7v-5.0v is where I should be. And the 1.7 ohm max is 3.7v.

How many of you vape between 5.0 and 6.0v? What's the benefit of that?
    I use 3.0 ohm single coils. I vape between 3.4v - 3.7v for my fruit flavors. 4.0v - 4.7v for my coffee flavors. Never above 5v .

This is not a deal breaker for me, but let me try to explain it.

If you're right handed and vaping, to check the screen you pull the e cig away from you (straight down) and turn it to the left. The screen will be upright.

Left handed you pull it away and down from you. The easiest motion after that is to turn it right (inward towards your body). If you do that the screen is upside down. So you have to turn it left which strains your wrist.

The action of looking at the screen should be mirror images of each other whether you're right or left handed. Left handers getting screwed again. Haha lol
