This purchase is a ways out but I'm looking at these two very different mods and need a little help deciding between the two. They are both recognized as the pinnacle of their respective mod classes, and I'm sure I'd be very pleased with either. As for the model, if I go with the ProVari, I'd get the mini and later add a Twins and a Hippo or some other flat top addition as there are a few out now; Reo I'd probably get a mini 2.1 but maybe a Grande, not the VV. I do prefer the stability of fully mechanical devices and can always throw in my kick if I want regulation, but the ProVari is arguably the best in it's class (although I much prefer VW to VV).

With the Reo I pretty much have to stick with a drip rba, but it has a built in tank by design. I've used genisis tanks in the past, but not currently, but that's not to say I wouldn't revisit them again in the future if I wanted to get say, a ZAP to go with the PoVari.

If money were the main factor, of course I'd go with the Reo, I already have a BF compatible rba, so I'd be set. Going with the ProVari would mean me also getting the Twins, Hippo, and possibly the ZAP, though maybe not the last one. However, the cost of the mod is secondary to it's performance, reliability, and most of all, my overall enjoyment of using it!

What to do, what to do...

Edit: I guess I should also point out that I'd be selling my only vv device (ss vamo) to afford this.

Well, you are certainly correct; each offers best in class performance. I'm blessed to own a Reo Grand and a Provari V-2. I love both of them! I seem to do a lot of experimenting and testing with my Provari, but for all day, every day vaping, the award goes to....Reo. I love how I can pop in a fresh 18650 battery, fill it up with my favorite juice, then not mess with it for an entire day. Some find the Grand a bit too large, but that isn't something I struggle with... If size were a consideration, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a Mini.

I've completely migrated to using only RBA's and quite a few work well with bottom feeders like Reo. I gravitate toward using a modified A-7. I've found the A-7 provides great all around performance for the $. I seal the mounting surface with an o-ring, drill a 1/16" hole in the cover, then install a home made bushing around the center pin (for stability). For me, nothing beats a properly set up A-7/Reo combination!

I've been using some of the newer Igo-L/S's on my Provari, as they are cost effective, simple to set up, and easy to use. These new generation drippers also hold much more juice than other tankless attys (I'm not a fan of tanks). Although these still don't provide an all day supply of juice like the Reo, they make dripping much more convenient

In closing, Provari is a well engineered unit, and with the right delivery system, it can be a real winner. For me however, the "Grand" prize goes to Reo.
