Provari- please help... what should I be getting?

I posted another thread about my dissatisfaction with my current vaping set up and it was recommended that I try a Provari. What should I be looking for?

Mainly I am interested in getting a stronger TH than I am getting with my eGo setups

• How do I know I'm not getting a knockoff?
• What cartos/clearos, etc. do I need?
• Do they come variable voltage?
• If you have one, can you tell me why you would recommend it over an eGo? How is the vaping experience vs. an eGo?
• Are the parts compatible with an eGo, or is this a whole different beast?
• Can you help by providing a link to a vendor?

I'm going to do some of my own research, but all of you are so helpful that I trust you guys more than I trust what I'm reading out there. I've made quite a few expensive blunders in the past month, and I don't want to put money into a provari just to be disappointed.

Provaris are made and sold iat one place only- provape.com. Buy from that site and you won't get a knockoff. They are variable voltage. They also sell top end gear on their site, but any 510 stuff should work. Not sure about eGo.

Mine is actually sitting in my mailbox waiting for me right now. I got sick of 510 batteries and tiny carts so I ordered this.

Buy it right from provape to guarantee you don't get a knock off. I just got mine a week ago and I love it. My wife liked it so much she made me order her one. As for the the setup I found the best to be a 3 ohm or higher carto and tank so I can crank the provari all the way up to 6 volts without dry hits.

Check out the clearance section on the Provape site. There are some blemished mods on there that are cheaper than the new ones. I've bought 2 blemished Provaris from them and both of them were pristine. They still aren't cheap by any means but it will save you a little bit.

You'll also need at least 2 batteries and a charger, but there are cheaper places than provape to get both so do some comparison shopping.

Before you jump to the ProVari, look at some other things.

What ohm is your delivery device? What delivery device are you using? What's the pg/vg ratio and nic level of your juice?

All of these can effect your experience.

I'm not saying don't get a ProVari I got one and love it but if you get one and end up still having those issues then you willstill be disappointed with your vape.

As others have said, Provape is the place to order from. They are variable voltage and will use anything 510 threaded. Some clearo's made for ego threading, like the Kanger's, will not fit but ones like the Vivi Nova will since they're 510 threaded.

One thing you should realize though, a Provari isn't really going to give you more TH or make your juice taste better. I can switch carto's between my ego twist and Provari and they taste the same, as long as they're set to the same voltage.

That said, I do love my Provari. Just don't get one thinking it will make everything taste better. Variable voltage will help but there are also other devices that will do the same like the Vamo. The major plus for the Provari is how well built and durable it is.

As stated by it from ProVape E-Cigarettes: Buy Electronic Cigarettes & Smokeless Cigs and you know you will be getting the real deal. As far as juice delivery it depends on what you like. If you are currently using clearomisers made for the eGo you will need a 510 to ego adapter if you want to use them on the ProVari. I would suggest going ahead and buying new 510 juice devices. I like carto tanks on the ProVari with single coil cartomisers from Ikenvape. I also drip a lot with my ProVari with both 510 and 306 atomizers.

I got vape mail today and set up a tank with a Killer 705 tank atomizer...works great but they are tough to get hold of. A lot of folks like the Vivi Nova, I don't care for them but it is one you might try.

Be careful taking the "Just get a ProVari" advice of others. Most on this forum will be honest and upfront with you but there are some who shout about the ProVari as the solution to everything, whether you really need one or not. And this is coming from someone who owns a ProVari.

They are rather expensive and may not really be the solution you want/need. There are plenty of other things you can do to increase your TH without spending a couple hundred bucks. Were you in the market for a ProVari before you got the advice? If so, then it may be just what you want. But if not, there are other, less expensive options that will give you a similar experience.

Check out the eVic, Vamo or Zmax. All are less expensive than a ProVari and offer much the same function. Not exactly the same but pretty darn close.

Honestly while I'm about a week from being able to give definitive word on the value of the Provari (only broke down and ordered one a yesterday) I've never been a fan of devices with integrated batteries. Something that's built to be disposable and EGOs are disposable, will not have the build quality of something built to last. In the case of mods like the Provari or any mod with separate batteries the disposable part is the battery while the mod itself is intended to last and the Provari is pretty much in a class by itself when it comes to durability and reliability only really surpassed if at all by pure mechanical mods.

My current mod is a prodigy V3.1 that I purchased back in June of 2011, the only reason I'm replacing it is because I got a decent bonus this year and I've been having problems finding a reliable supply of 17670 protected batteries. You will not find an ego user who's still using the same device 2 years later. They will have had to replace their battery multiple times over that period.

What I will say is this. If you stick with vaping you will probably end up buying a quality mod anyway so you might as well save any money you were going to spend on junk in the mean time and just buy the good stuff. The Provari is a proven mod, it didn't get it's reputation all on hype. Too many people have used them for too long.

Delivery device.... if I'm using the correct terminology, I've tried some random crap cartos and clearos, a Vivi Nova Mini (that I'm hugely disappointed with), and some Resurrector Jrs. The random ones are Dual Coil (1.5), and I have a 1.8 ohm head on the Vivi Nova. I use a chart online to find what voltage my battery needs to be on, start there, and then fiddle swinging the power up or down.

PG/VG ratio is 80/20. Nic level started out at 18mg, but I have a few 12mg juices. I do know that the higher the nic, the bigger the TH, but I wouldn't expect 18mg juice to smoke like an ultra light.

I read so many posts about people loving their ViviNovas, and I can't stand the thing. I've fiddled around with different juices, and different voltages on my eGo Twist. Maybe I just don't like wicking systems, but it seems like the people here that have Vivi Novas really like them. Maybe they like them because they don't give a big hit? It sucks, because I first bought (what I didn't know was a) knockoff Vivi Nova. So I figured that it just sucked because it was a knockoff, so I bought a "real" Vivi Nova. It came yesterday. I was all excited, and it has less (less!) TH than the knock off!

Well, at least if I don't get one straight away, I'll have this information to go on in the future. I just really wish I could get these "massive THs" that seem to be in reviews for most of the popular accessories/hardware.

It sounds like you need some hands on guidance with juice delivery devices.

Are there any brick and mortar vape shops in your area? Perhaps someone in the Pittsburgh region knows and can provide that information. The sales people should be willing to show you step by step on how to properly set up and maintain these devices.

A Provari is not going to help your vaping experience if you don't know how to use the devices that you put on one.
