I had original black chrome Provari V1 and wanted to freshen it up, seeing that I use that every day! I contacted Provapeabout having it done. I was informed that they can't help me with thatbecause they don't have any chrome tubes or deal with chroming anymore. Well I do know chrome platters, in fact the original chromers that did it forthem. So I suggested that can I pay for the upgrade and have them sendback the tube for me to deal with the finishing of it and I would pay theadditional shipping. After numerous emails back and forth I was told theupgrade would be $65. I questioned what and why the additional cost wasso high considering that to upgrade was only $20 (a great value). Soafter a few more emails back and forth I was told no problem and they gave me aReturn Merchandise ticket. I received the Provari back withthe head hanging off to the side and a wires showing. I figured that theywould have at least fully dismantled it. So I sent the tube to berefinished. I then sent the tube and the circuit board back to Provape tohave them assemble it. I received an email back stating that therewere problems with this provari and I would have to be charged $65. Aftergoing back and forth again with the emails I still haven't gotten a straightanswer to what's wrong with the provari. Other than saying that thecircuit board is very fragile and we told you it was going to be $65. I haveemails stating different than that. So the last reply was that we cansend it back to you broke or pay the $65. I have had nothing butpraise for the Provape Company and their product line; yes I still have myProvape 1. I am shocked and perplexedwith my issue here..
Input my fellow vapers, please.

Not trying to defend Provape, but it sounds like they tried to discourage your refurbishing idea from the beginning because they no longer deal with chroming anymore. But since you were persistant, they decided to try to accomodate you, perhaps against their better judgement. Somehow things didn't work out as planned.

IMO, Provape was not liable to submit to your request. Sounds like they went against their routine policy to try to accomodate you. It's not really their fault additional issues came up from what I can tell.

Have you asked to speak with someone higher up in the customer service chain?

Other than that, I don't have much to say.

Honestly... Pay the $65 and be done with it. Life is to short. You wanted custom, sometimes custom costs more than planned. A few months ago I was trying to send a black mini in to have the tube changed to stainless satin. (At the time tube change was on the services menu) and I got a song and dance about how they don't do that anymore, when I mentioned it was still on the menu they promptly removed it. Still looking at this black mini......

Im getting my Provari v1 repaired as we speak and they're charging me a $20 cleaning fee! I dont think the old Provape would have done this...Im already paying $65 for a new board and $10 for a new window...the $20 fathoms me, I can get my whole car washed for that! haha. I may just take my $95 and put it towards another mod/company, looks like with growth, the great service is disappearing.

$20 cleaning fee does seem abit excessive..........$75 for a new board and screen should include a free cleaning... I still standby Provapes custormer service....quick e-mail response and from what Im told repair turn around is Super fast....

I break stuff, so I've had to send my Provaris back for service numerous times. I know that the RMA system they have clearly states that you should clean the contacts or be charged $20. At least it did the last few times I've sent mine in.

I clean mine every two weeks anyway, with some very cheap supplies from Amazon (99% Iso, long wooden swabs, and Noalox). Yes, the $20 is high, but it's intentionally set high because they would prefer to NOT have to do it. So if you're not cleaning regularly, at least do so before sending it in for service (as per the warning ProVape provides). It takes all of about 5 minutes, and will keep your devices functioning better than if you don't.
