On the Provari site I see it mentions to use a battery with a nipple and not a flat top battery. Can I use a flat top with a magnet or will the magnet get stuck in the innards somewhere it shouldn't?

Repent

I actually asked them that same question...they don't recommend it.
It will probably work, but not recommended.
Magnets + computer chips = trouble waiting to happen

You can go the magnet route and HOPE it doesn't slide around and short out or you can go the 'glob of solder' on the flat top route also. BUT, seriously -- does it make any sense to cheap out on a brand new $200-ish device?

I have a BDL IMR with a small magnet on top and it works just as well as my AWs.

I'm not "cheaping out" I'm trying to see if the current batteries I have will work in this mod. It's called be a "good steward".

As someone else said, you're going to get a great mod, spend over a hundred fifty bucks, and skimp on the batteries??? (Just read your post, above mine. It may make sense, if you already have batteries, to see if they'll work, or see if anyone with a ProVari has the same batteries and has tried 'em!)

Hey... in for a penny, in for a pound!

By the way, if you're a fairly heavy vapper, I'd also suggest you get the extention cap, so that you can use the 18650's. I find the shorter batteries are fine for most days, if I'm leaving the house at, say, 9am, and returning by five. For other days, such as tomorrow, I'll be taking my kids to Sea World, leaving the house at 6am, driving to Seaworld, spending the day, then arriving at the hotel around 7pm, there's NO WAY they would last.

Having the choice to simply switch to the longer life 18650's, and not having to carry a spare battery around, I just find much easier! I guess carrying a 2nd 18490 wouldn't be that big of a hassle either.

By the way... do I need to say it? LOVE the ProVari!!!

I too like the idea of the cap extension to be able to use the 18650. How much longer does it make the unit with the 18650 battery over the 18500 battery?
I see the 18650 are not in stock although if it takes 3 weeks to fill the order most likely the batteries would be back in stock by then and some set aside to fill orders in waiting.
Should I look for higher mAh batteries though? Seems like there are higher mAh batteries out there.

The 18650 cap adds about 3/4". Still fits in my pocket.

BTW - comments about cheaping out on batteries is BS. I had the BDL long before the ProVari was on the market. I've used it plenty with the magnet and it is just fine. The chances of the magnet moving and keeping contact with the tube, battery and positive contact are slim to none. Especially with the end cap screwed on. My magnet is tiny. It couldn't touch all three points at once.

Thanks for the extra info IA. I follow your comments over in the Phidias thread as well. I wouldn't think using a magnet would hurt either but I've not inspected the battery compartment to see how it's laid out.

Besides, I don't know where you'd get the idea I was being cheap in the battery area when I asked if using a magnet would be ok. A question like that would make me think the asker had batteries they wanted to know if they could use and those batteries were flat top. If you know me you know I'm anything but cheap. Frugal yes, but I believe in paying for quality once, as opposed to being cheap and paying twice.

Thats ok though, it's all good!! Most likely I'd buy the Provari it's own batteries anyway so that they would then be dedicated to that device. I have some batts that only go for my Phidias and some only for my Wetbox.

Just wondering if I should source batteries of a higher mAh than those offered on the Provari site.

10 - 11 mg/ml. I buy most of my flavors from One Stop DIY. I have 116, so the recipes are almost limitless. I do have about 15 Flavorart and 6 Capellas along with about 15 Lorann but I still gravitate towards the Flavor Apprentice stuff that OSDIY carries. Anyway 10mls is easy to do with the Vari. BTW the Nicvape nic is very good and he was offering quite a nice sal;e just before the holidays. I will order again from him. He was the first supplier to ever throw in a free atty and 10mls of juice and I only bought 125mls of 100mg/ml nic at 50% off!

My card was charged at time of shipment and I believe that is standard practice for ProVape.

Hi Liv2Ski;

I know typically vendors only charge when they ship product and not when order is received, for just such a case. Just wanted to verify this is the case. I know some vendors will ship out partial orders so the full charge (debit) can be made at the time of order as opposed to time of shipment if some products are on B/O for example.

I bought some nic from Nicvape over the holidays as well. I forgot to enter in the discount code and in dealing with Rich, in the end, I got 120 ml of 100mg/ml for $32!! When you consider that I use 4mg/ml, I'm good till the turn of the century....

I haven't found 18650 IMRs with higher mAh ratings than the AWs. If you find any, definitely let me know!

I have some AW 18650 at 2600 mAh that I bought for the Phidias but in looking at them they don't say they are IMR or high drain so I'm guessing they are not. Got them from Lighthound as I remember.
