Does it bother anyone else that the 18650 extension cap doesn't match the PV .... or am I just nuts.

As Pete said, the extension cap for the 18650 battery matches in finish perfectly! Unless you bring the ProVari up very close, you'd never notice that it's there. If you look closely, you can see a hairline gap, where the extension cap ends. But again, I'm talking "hairline"... and the finish and material of the extension matches the finish of the ProVari perfectly!

The extension cap I have matches perfectly. However, I would pass on it and buy more 18500's. They last me all day and the ProVari just feels so much better in standard length.

I'd respectfully disagree here, with Pete.

I received my ProVari two days ago, at 5pm. Slapped an 18490 into the ProVari (as others have mentioned, the batteries arrived fully charged), and started vapping away.

At 1am... the ProVari died. Right around 8 hours of pretty heavy vapping, and changing settings and just using the device!

Next day, awoke at 8am. By 3:30pm, using the 18490's, ProVari again died. This time, it was 7.5 hours. So I was able to get very close to eight hours of steady usage from the shorter batteries. Not bad life at ALL, for the shorter batteries!

I'm now trying the 18650's.

I haven't drained the 18650's yet, but I'd guess if they are 1600 mah, and the shorter ones are 1100 mah, I can expect about 50% longer battery life, or 12 hours. Feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong in my calculation, or if others that have used the ProV with the larger batteries have gotten significantly different times.

I already had 2 18650's, for my Ali'i, plus a charger for them. For me, personally, spending the nominal amount for the extension cap gives me the option to use the 18650's if I know I'll be gone all day, or have to carry a 2nd battery with me.

The extra half inch IS noticable, but again... choice is having to bring and carry around a 2nd battery, or just have a slightly longer, slightly heavier device! The extension is almost like having two different devices, as it does give the ProVari a different feel to it, while providing significantly longer battery life!

Morning Pete yeh i am with you on the 18500. i was gonna order the extension cap but changed my mind. Im trying to get away from 18650 batterys. The 18500 is same thickness but shorter and works for me. Yeh i agree i dont want it longer. Its just golden the way it is. Besides like Pete says it lasts all day. My son is going to order one but he works more than 12 hrs a day so he will need the 18650. i have to leave in an hr go to the VA but i am afraid to take the Provari with me cause i dont want to scratch it. i was looking at soft leather flashlite cases this morn kinda nice but hard to order on line cause i wont know if it fits.

The difference is not really huge. Slap an 801 atty + adapter and it's ridiculous...awesomely ridiculous.

I havent tried the 18490 yet but do have one. I received my Provari the same day as Shel (congrats!) and I put the extension on with the 18650, I have been vaping it ever since. Its getting pretty close to changing now but its been 2 days of maybe 7 hrs a day heavy vaping. The 18650's are hard to beat. I will be trying the 18490 today and will report back. All in all, no matter which you prefer there is no denying this is a great mod!

Love the provari but I have one question. When I check the battery voltage (cb) or atomizer ohms (ao) my atomizer will fire while the device waits for the readings. Anyone else notice this?

Still waiting for my production version to arrive-so I can't check the voltage, but
... that's how it checks the resistance... .. .The a0 is with a lowered voltage - should only be for a moment and then shut off

it must be me, but i have never not been surprised how fast the IMRs run down... i have 3 aw IMR 18490's, and 3 of the 18650; kinda wish i had nixed on the smallers...

still curious about using a reg 18650... anyone doing that?

what does E7 mean?

i put a HV 306 Iken on and it doesn't work on the unit... E7 came up ... when i changed out batts i tried again and nothing came up; it just woudn't fire with the HV306... works fine otherwise...

and the HV 3.5Ohm 306 is working kinda nice on a eGo usb batt... ??? i pmm'd it at 3.5Ohm ...

E7 means look out... she's about to BLOW...

Actually, it means there's no atty, amongst other things... it sounds to me like vapinig 101... make sure the center connections are making contact... pry down on the center pin of the atty to fully expose it to the PV connector. Your eGo shoved it in too far.

flunking 101 is not an option; learning the hard way seems to be my fate... lol.

but would hate to lose a new atty... by "pin" do you mean the center cylinder that has the hole in middle?
how do you pry it down (or more exposed?)
- i've had some attys ruined by turning too hard on connectors, pushing the cylinder (pin?) down into atty too much so i am careful not to over tighten attys.. this one same, and i used it on the eGo only after this happened... used it fresh on the Provari.
