    BLASTING from box speakers inside of a (9-10 year old) 1968 Dodge Coronet with a Thrush muffler, more memories than I can even gather in my head.

    Your fam had a '68 Coronet? lol, We did also and I made my dad trade it for a '65 mustang when I turned 16. Wouldn't be cool to ride around in a coronet. Yes, I was a daddy's girl.

    ETA, I just realized ours was a '66 Coronet, canary yellow.

    Same color as my ‘69 Coronet.

    I actually bought it myself. $750 and had to replace the torsion bar & muffler (Hush Thrush! LOL!!!). It was a boat but I had my share of fun with & in it. GOOD times.

    Lol, my first car, in 1976, was a 1969 Plymouth Fury III. Talk about a freakin' boat!!! :lol: :lol:
    My Grandpa owned a car dealership, he wanted me to have a "safe" car, sold it to me for $300.

    I'll never forget the first time I drove it. The brakes, OMG!!! Ya just touched the pedal and she came to a screeching halt. It took me a bit to get used to. It looked just like this one.

    The memories, so many. We used to pack 6 people in the trunk when we went to the drive-in theaters. :greengrin:
    A buddy and I installed a nice stereo and speakers in it. I mean, '76, that was mandatory. Party mobile!!!

    I sold it for $500 ( :lol: ) and then bought a 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix from my Grandpa. The Grand Prix is the one car I wish I would have kept.

    Little known tidbit, they named the band REO Speedwagon, after the REO Speed Wagon, a 1/2 ton truck that was designed by Ransom Eli Olds. Cool truck and dig the price!!! :greengrin:

    Oh the memories you all are bringing back. My Mustang was custom, had cute bumper guards with horseshoe shapes and other stuff I have never seen on any other car.

    I am laughing at the prices of cars from back then to now. My first brand new car was a '72 toyota corolla. Basic model, didn't even have a radio but cost 1700.00 new.

    I had many cars in my lifetime, including a Vega lol. Also, had a semi automatic volkswagon beetle. No one believes me when I tell them those existed. I couldn't get the hang of a stick shift at the time so opted for the semi automatic since it had no clutch to deal with.

    I owned at least 18 cars over the years. lol

    My first car was a '61 Beetle. I learned how to drive a shift from jump, and continued to do so until only 5-6 years ago. I've turned lazy in my older age.

    Heat didn't work so we hooked up a big airvent hose and pulled it into the car from the back. I could stick it into my jacket for heat, or point it at the windshield to defrost.

    The floorboards were rotting out too. One fine day, I was driving up East Main Street hill (Stamford, CT) and her seat dropped about six inches. She SCREAMED!

    I'm surprised she didn't break up with me right there and then. :lol:

    Of course, we went up, welded some bars across the bottom, then drove it for another year or so, until it died.

    Was that Bug one of the Two Speed Automatics? Had a friend who had a Karmen Ghia with that transmission.
    I can't remember but I think it was 3 speed. I loved Ghia's but the stick shift kept me from getting one. I didn't know they made automatic shifts.

    Chrysler made a lot of boats back then. U-turns were out of the question.
