In England there is what they call the North/South Divide. A rough description woud be: Southerners see Northerners as uneducated boorish knuckle-dragers. Conversely, Northerners see Southerners as big-softies and namby-pamby weaklings.
During the recent bad weather spell, I read the following advice:
Advice to Southerners - Don't go out today, you will be putting your life in danger.
Advice to Northerners - You might want to think about wearing your big coat today.

Tucson is still getting east coast weather. Overcast, the occasional normal rain, but no flooding.
It would be wrong to cross my fingers for climate change in my favor, so I won't. But it certainly has been an interesting winter, that's for sure. It's also hard to believe in something like that enough to honestly cross my fingers for it, I remember weird winters and giant (unexpected, below the fall line) snows in my youth, in fact one of my earlier memories is getting "lost" in a snowdrift, but I was about 4. It was still scary though...

I kind of hope that it's not like Tinkerbell, where the more people believe a thing, the more likely it is to happen, LOL.
Because so far, I've been "threatened" by global cooling, swine flue, bird flu, some sort of Chinese breathing thing (forget the name) and then some sort of anthrax scare, also death by giant volcano, meteor, tidal wave, etc. Not to mention I read the WHOLE Bill Bryson book "A short History of Nearly Everything" which was AWESOME but did leave on wondering if one was merely a figment of one's own imagination.
Then I got older and started thinking, "F it. I will worry about it WHEN it happens." So far, nothing too implausible seems to have wiped out the human race. I mean, I bet back in PLAGUE times when the threat was actually REAL, well people felt freaked out and yet it didn't wipe out everyone.
I believe in weather. I BELIEVE in GOOD weather. And bad weather. And that kind of stuff.

Started with sleet down here in Garner, now the snow is piling up in the yard and roads. The grocery store down the road looked like folks were preparing for the apocalypse!
