Collateral damage II - Sadly, Tweety got caught in the rat trap. A red squirrel and black squirrel were spotted in yard last week. One was even underneath the jeep so fresh bags of mothballs went underneath it today. Jackie commented how she hasn't seen any cats lately. Well that's been quashed... A couple of daze ago I thought I heard some young girls outside screaming. When I looked out the window, I saw Fluffy (neighbor's white cat). She was spotted in our bushes today. Jackie heard the same screaming last night (cats having sex). A couple of mornings ago a big gray cat was laying on back porch. A small, mangy, orange and white cat walked past and stuck it's tongue out at him/her.

Wonder how they recharge their vape.
Chargers are banned as far as I know.
Hope I don't ever need to find out.

They've been doing this in the county jail here since last year. The commissary sells non-rechargeable non-refillable throwaways for about $7 each as I remember.

Look, I have almost no sympathy for those who choose to break the law, but the national companies who gouge for telephone calls and snacks should be prosecuted themselves. Of course they need to make a profit, but a minimum of 500% markup to a captive audience with no other options is criminal in itself.

That's about what Walgreens charges too, at least around these (crazy) parts. Well, that was the case the last time I looked into it (almost seven years ago).

Maybe things have changed.

I may be about to start working in a USA jail. Believe me when I say there is/will be no vaping. LOL, the funny thing is they say they go by AZ state law, and AZ has YET to ban vaping or even deem it a tobacco product..

I'm quite sure I WON'T be able to and even if I COULD, well, I would not vape in front of a captive population who is detoxing from tobacco, that's inhumane. Etc.

My brief foray into commissary land was, (my son was incarcerated for the night) well, it's disgusting, it really is, what they sell and what they charge for it. Cash only I think which makes you kind of wonder.

I have been to the State Pen, which is entirely different and worse (I was just passing by and demanded the husband stop) and I'm actually a big Hater of the Jail System for Profit, in fact only the fact that the county is taking it back and under a new, more humane contract makes me at all willing to work there. My son did everything he could to discourage me (LOL, he's just mad because it's the one HE was incarcerated in) but almost everything about prison systems in the US is rather inhumane. I actually have a huge stash of materials collected somewhere because a lot of past clients were former convicts. Including free tattoo removal for stuff like teardrop tattoos which like, if you ever plan on employment again THAT IS NOT THE TATTOO you want. It was interesting, surprising, and honestly, there ARE funds to help ex cons but a lot of folks don't know about them, etc. So, it's a good/bad situation etc., but man, talk about a machine for turning people into life long criminals.

I am planning on NOT doing that, in fact opposing it. To the best of my abilities. Etc.

From what I've seen here, someone like you could make a big difference. But the reality of an environment composed of people who reject civilization along with the "professionals" who are underpaid, undermotivated, overworked, and without the tools to make things better - I almost hope you don't get the job.

@GeekyGeezer , like my SECOND job was with ex cons primarily, it was in an East Baltimore clinic run by John's Hopkins. LOL, they were a TON of fun. But very ex felonious. I got thoroughly hazed as the only white group therapist. By the end (I had red hair and wore pigtails) they were like little lambs and my nickname was "Punky Brewster."

My first job was residential treatment for adolescent girls, and that was a lot harder. LOL, I did have a couple kiddos who kept up with me and would send updates to my later jobs, and one girl I got steered TOTALLY away from all antisocial behavior and she was a TREAT. Sent me pics of her first prom.

It only takes one. Also, I like convicts, and the reason I decided to take the job is it is under new management and there will be more therapeutic services. Frankly, county jails are often where "first offenders" are booked. Like, heh, my kid.

I really like the criminally minded and do great with them, so PLEASE hope I get the job, it's perfect for my skill set (and frankly a Native Tribe near the border of Mexico where I was going in home... Was actually FAR more dangerous. LOL.

Please HOPE I get the job, I actually REALLY want it, and I'm good at it! I need as much hope as possible, frankly! LOL.

But, thank you for your concern. If it helps, I'm also in recovery I have spent much of my life associating with the "undesirable" including my husband who was once jailed indefinitely for showing up to court drunk and telling the Judge that he was a hypocrite and he'd seen the Judge leave bars drunk and drive all the time.

We are also both rehabilitated. Do not think I have been an angel all my life. I most certainly haven't. LOL.

I've visited various city jails like 4 times. Even invited for overnight stays. Breakfast included. There were no white girls with pigtails. Least not in the population I was in.

Oh and she's trying to tell you that she met Bubba's sister, Angie, while at the "office".
