I tried it with various things, LOL. Coffee grinds everywhere.

THEN, I was like, OMG she MEANS..... Pour hot water into the coffee filter in the coffee maker without all the dumb electrical stuff. LOL that did not occur to me at ALL for some reason. Perhaps, because I had no coffee at that time.

@rosesense , you are a freaking GENIUS. LOL. Water heating in the microwave right NOW.

Thank you for doing my (not yet caffeinated) thinking for me! LOL.

After you get all caffeinated, and you are ready to shop, consider getting a French Press as your back-up device. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MMQOZ1U/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It just needs boiling water and some grinds to make a pot of coffee. I'm not a coffee person, but I have this one for when I feel the need for coffee instead of my usual tea.

Yeah, I have a French Press and like it.... It is in Tucson unfortunately but am waking up after a horrible start.

I might be a couple minutes late for work, hopefully not. My supervisor would probably understand, I have never seen her without a coffee cup in close proximity. I mean, ever.

Glad to be of help. I have owned a french press but quickly figured out it is just as easy to pour water through the coffee filter and don't have to take up more space.

Sorry for not being more clear, Anna. I have even made it by placing coffee grounds in a paper towel, twisting the top and dunking it in hot water. I have heated water in a fireplace, grill and camp stove when there was a power outage. If needed, I would build a small camp fire and heat water there. Necessity is....and all that.

You made me think about my coffee drinking and I realized that there has never been one single day in my life since I was a toddler that I haven't had coffee. Yes, my mother gave it to me as a young child with lots of milk and sugar. Probably put it in my bottle, too. Oh, the horrors. How did I survive to the age of 67 without the regulation of the FDA to 'save me'?

I was hooked on chicory coffee for a time. That is one that takes getting used to and getting used to switching back to regular coffee as well.

I'm about as bad with the black tea. I used to have to travel for work and after getting stuck in Utah without any hotel hot water, I made myself a special kit with a stainless tea pot (like the Chinese restaurants use) and electric kettle that all fit in my suitcase and would survive as checked baggage. I even had a stainless thermos to carry the hot tea with me before TSA and as I started doing the big grey dog for long trips.

I picked the stainless coffee press for the same reason, and because I never want to pollute my tea coffee maker with coffee oils. I even have a special mug for coffee. o_O

Coffee does remind me of being a little kid and waking up to the sound of the percolator and eventually the smell of fresh coffee and my mom lighting up her first smoke of the day. Life in the olden days, I guess.

Shore lunch in Canada. They dip a metal coffee can in the lake and boil it over a campfire then toss grounds right in the water. Then they pull it off the heat and let it sit a bit for the grounds to settle and then dip their coffee cup in to fill.

I have never had a single day in my life that I had coffee. :)

    A tip for camp coffee:

Drop a little cold water in there, after it's ready, and the grounds will settle out faster without cooling it off too much. That's if you've boiled it, right and proper, the way your supposed to.

It's not camp coffee if it doesn't have a little bite.

Wow, Bronze. You have never had coffee? Unheard of, I tell ya.
When I was two or three my dad spilled a cup of piping hot coffee all over me that required a trip to the emergency room. That ended my relationship with coffee. It was also my earliest memory. Gee, I wonder why? :)
