Pure accident, we had eaten dinner and were just wandering around the downtown. Two hicks from rural Kentucky in the big town. I saw the marquee with his name and about lost my teeth. She did not know who Duke Ellington was, he was not Rare Earth, her current favorite. The cover to get in was $10 (fair amount of money back then) a person and the room held about 150 people. It was a most amazing night. We were right there, just feet away and the sound was beyond compare. The Cat played a sax for ten minutes straight, Duke Ellington introduced him with a very simple, "And now, El Gato". The Cat took off. Duke didn't do much the whole evening, I don't think he was well but he had his orchestra there, it must have been twenty musicians in a very small venue. A night that I will take to the grave and it was pure dumb luck.

I have never seen a Broadway production, I saw some live shows in KC and St. Louis but never anything like Sophisticated Ladies with Hines. I would imagine that you sat transfixed.

I never did get such a chance, and am envious, but I will say that Sophisticated Ladies was one of my favorite Broadway experiences. I caught it right after Maurice Hines took over for Gregory, and it was PHENOMENAL!

Mine was watching Mikhail Baryshnikov dance with the Cincinnati Ballet many years ago. Having loved classical ballet my whole life watching him dance can never be equalled…unless I could have watched Nureyev or Nijinski dance :)

I am one of those people who just like to hate stuff.

It is important not just to have aspirations, but also to pursue them.

Life lived well, I'd say.

Congrats on yesterday's win, just by the way. Your Cats (Kats?) almost broke a sweat.

I aspire to just be an indiscriminate hater of stuff.

I was worried after Buffalo beat Arizona, it appears Arizona had an off day or took it too lightly. UK WildKats head to Katlanta for the next round, K-State or UMBC.
