I'm starting to think the old Raleigh bike is going to be another disappointment, straitening out the metal where the rear wheel attaches has weakened it, I don't think I would ever feel confident riding the old beast after beating her back into shape...silver lining, she has good parts...the cogs on the gear set have a different ratio than any other that I have on hand, so maybe fortune still shines on this crazy diamond...I now have three different cog sets of gears to play with, and looking at the numbers last night, this old cog set might just be the sweet spot for the Astro Daimler bike I have been toying with, it is of the correct vintage and make, I won't know until I can get my hands on the correct tool to remove and install the cog set onto the AD rear wheel, and then put some miles on her, but the numbers are promising, so as in organ donor terms, the old Raleigh will live on in spirit, perhaps, by donating parts to another entity for a time...And I get to play with a munched wheel and see if I can figure out if I can get it back to true. I'm pretty sure fortune will toss another 27" project my way, and maybe some other parts will go into that one.
