Nothing like having a new band playing at your high school -
On one hand, John Rutsey had to regret not sticking it out with Rush. On the other hand, the band probably would not have made it out of the 70’s had he stuck it out. Finding My Way and Working Man were great tunes but no one would be talking about them today without the dude that suceeded him. We certainly wouldn’t be talking about Cygnus X-1. The thing was, his successor didn’t make the band, he complimented the band and they all made each other better. They were a bit of a mess when I first saw them (Caress of Steel tour). Wasn’t long and they had it dialed in. They went on to be one if the most polished bands there has been. One that only
three guys together for 40-50 years working a grueling schedule could possibly do. Too bad we get old. Playing music is as physical as it is artistic. I guess all good things must come to an end. By hatchet, axe, or saw.
