I've "met" a lot of people on my vaping journey. Some I value for their knowledge, some for their humor, some for their insight. Lately, it seems that fewer and fewer have any of those qualities.

But Kat, oh that Kat. She meets all of those and adds new ones I discover most every time she opens her virtual mouf. There's casual friends, good friends, close confidants...but very very few reach the level of Remarkable - those who have made an impact and will be remembered forever.

So congrats to Kat for her milestone. I'm happy just to lurk in the shadows and enjoy.

Congrats to all the winners I mean, vapers. LOL.

I don't think the Brits are desperate. Maybe about some stuff, but not vaping.

The Brits kind of have this integrity about them, they don't like to lie. I disagree with certain things in their healthcare system (most notably, mental health treatment) but then again, maybe it works for a Bit. I would not care to be repeatedly treated for my "episodes" I find them acutely unpleasant, and I prefer maintenance medicine.

But I also believe in such an interesting, polite and forgiving culture (although that may be changing somewhat) perhaps it works... For the Brits.

What I don't tend to see from Britain is a bunch of lies from researchers. They are not going in LOOKING for a particular outcome, they are genuinely excited to see what will occur.

That last happened around the time genetics got big in the US. Researchers were DROOLING to get the human genome mapped and start to try figuring out what was going wrong.

So high school for me was when things sort of went wrong in the US, but honestly, perhaps every adult looking back on their past has that moment where society went "wrong" "right" whatever

IDK.

Provi'Nutties.....

I'm eight, I'm 8, and for a very important date, you're late. ;)

I really ABSTO do NOT want any "congrats" or kudos, but if you'd like some fun, and if you have the time, , ,

Four years ago today, DPL started a little vape-a-versary thread for me. And what a thread it is. He amazed me and honoured not only me, but all that we've all done, and all we stand for. I will never be able to thank him sufficiently... not ever.

You might enjoy the humour, the emotes, the old friends (some no longer with us), the memories, and the deeply felt emotions and experiences as to why we are all here together.

I re-read some of it tonite, and I can only say it brought tears and laughter, all at the same time. You might enjoy reading bits of it. I know I did.

I'm sharing this with you guys, as the Provi and my beginnings go hand-in-hand.

Read forward, or read backward and have some smiles, giggles, and tears... I really DO appreciate you all, and am so happy to STILL enjoy this journey with you.

My love to you~~

Katdarling is 4 today - HAPPY 4TH, KAT!

Congrats Kat :)

I bet in Britain my prescriptions for the year wouldn't cost $118,085.60
Just sayin'...

I lived in the UK for two years, and loved most every minute of it.
IF your Rx's were/are available through the NHS, you're quite right. It would cost you very little out of pocket. BUT, not all meds are available through the NHS, they have a list of those they will pay for, and that doesn't necessarily overlap with what US insurers cover. Just as, though medical care is "free", not all services are as readily available as in the US. Still, what a great place!

Having lived in England twice, I always thought they were a bit more relaxed about life. I appreciated it a lot.

Every place has positives and negatives.
We live in New Mexico and it's very laid back compared to everywhere we lived on the east coast.

EVERYPLACE is more relaxed about life than America. We could stand to learn a lot from other countries and vice versa.
That said, I believe we have way more positives than negatives. I'm never leaving Michigan again, ever.

True, but partially because you'd have to wait 15 months for any of it. ;)
Ok, but I bet I wouldn't have to spend HOURS on the phone begging for my life, literally. Or hire lawyers to get a disability insurance carrier to cover me. A insurance I paid extra out of paycheck for 23 years, 10 months and 10 daze. Especially when FOUR DOCTORS WHO NEVER MET ALL BACK ME UP! Or have to hire a lawyer and go see a federal judge to get my SS disability. Know how long we were in that hearing? 12 minutes! Yep. 12 minutes! The lawyer couldn't believe it. Said every one she's been to took at least 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours. Judge was like, "Did you like your job?" I replied, "Yes, sir, I still have dreams about working there." He told us, "I've seen enough, you'll be hearing about my decision soon."
Two daze ago I was on the phone threatening my health insurance that I was going to sue the pants off of them if they cut me off me off from Esbriet. I had just got a letter from them saying it was a temporary supply and I needed to go through the process of getting it authorized. GET IT AUTHORIZED? They've been paying for it since April of 2017! It's probably why I am still alive! There is no generic substitute. It's $9,000 a month! Needless to say, I talked to more than one person and was told I was authorized until Dec. of 2099. Yep, 2099. We'll, OK THEN!
But still, you would not believe the COUNTLESS number of hours I have spent on the phone, not to mention three different lawyers just to get insurance carriers and our sweet blessed government TO LIVE UP TO THEIR CONTRACTS!
Think I'd have such a hard time in Britain? I doubt it...
Btw, my 1st cousin is a personal injury/disability lawyer with his own law firm. His partner (law firm partner, he's married) and him BEGGED me to let them sue my company but I said I wasn't interested. All I want is for these various entities to live up to their word and contracts. That's all. But I am getting tired of making them do it...

Words cannot express my thoughts. Not words acceptable to ECF, in any case.

I prefer the US system. You do have to know how to work it, and it's complicated as all get out but it is what I know.

The kiddo (21 now) cost me five bucks. I had ONE five dollar copay at the OBGYN and that was it. My sis paid several thousand dollars when she had kiddo number two. The US is getting a LOT harder. I still prefer it.

Aussie system is breaking down per my dad. IDK about Britain.

I will say Obamacare made the US system pretty intense for a while.

I get generic prescriptions (most of them) for a one dollar copay if I use my work pharmacy. I an not gong to argue with that. Of course, they are a healthcare company so they have good healthcare.

I was on SSDI once, and I was so certain that I was not going to be eligible I saw a lawyer. He said, due to my age and education, he would not take my case. I wound up caving when everyone said to apply. I got it in 2 months, no review (other than my records.) i was glad to not pay him 33% of my backpay that was backdated for like 2 years.... Same thing when I did it again (I think mainly because I had returned to work, they are super nice to you then because they know if you do it once, you will again.)

I guess I am sicker than I thought. With my husband, we had to go before the judge... But, she did rule from the bench, etc.

Yeah, prescription costs are big bucks.
