So last weekend the wife switched us over to Galaxy smart phones with T-mobile...I went from a tiny dumb phone, very Blackberryesque, to this HUGE black mirror...it's cool and all, but man these phones got big!

Sooo, I loaded an app, Strava, it tracks activities like cycling, running etc. Pretty cool, I have found that my average speed is around 16 + or - MPH while riding, and my max speeds on the flats is just shy of 30 mph...pretty much where I thought I was using an old wind up stop watch and measured distances with timed runs, but so much easier with the app.

I can hardly wait to go to the hilly section and do a propper hill bombing session and see what kind of speeds I hit :) Also will be helpful when riding in places without mile markers...yeah, I'm still cycling a lot, and looking forward to cooler weather for some longer rides.
Funny you mentioned that. I may have said somewhere that my downstairs neighbors moved out and I bought his bike for a song. Really digging it. First time in 20+ yrs on a bike. My son is big into cycling (fancy bike weighing a feather, slick clothes etc.) and he suggested I get Strava, which I did. It's cool. Nice how I can see distance (although Apple Health on the iPhone has a cycling submenu which does track mileage accurately, though don't ask me how it knows I'm biking instead of driving slow), elevation, MPH, etc. And, as opposed to you, not looking forward to the colder weather and having to quit this for the year.

Today I did some hill bombing, and I doubt the absolute accuracy of the Strava speed now, but overall, it is a very cool app! Yeah, I am pretty lucky in that I can ride year round here. Colder weather does have it's challenges, but still worth doing. Biggest thing I have found is dress for the weather, and seal in the sweat. Not so bad if you keep on trucking, but whenever I stop, it gets chilly really fast because the sweat soaks the underlayers, and without keepin on, the wet equals cold...maybe I need to look into dedicated cold weather cycling clothing...

I vote ever.

And yet, you seem to dialogue with me just fine @Bronze LOL. Is your claim, "I dialogue well with the incoherent?" I'm not sure you want to make that claim. It's like learning sign language when you have the ability to hear. You can never go back, and you usually end up live translating for an event that requires it or even MARRYING a deaf person and I am here to tell you....

That is a culture I have a VERY hard time comprehending (pun intended.) It's like MIMES only they put a TON more effort into it and it's a lot faster and they never seem to get caught in the invisible box, although you sometimes wish THEY WOULD.

Okay I will stop insulting the hearing impaired and say! My Jaq B arrived!! Holy goodness I had NO IDEA. Pictures don't do that thing justice at ALL. I have no desire to wrap it (yet anyway.) It's such a great vape too! Why did I wait so long! Oh well, that's cool.

I ordered a 25 mm and got a 23 mm. I don't mind. It's for my Kabuki if I ever find the dang adaptor. I really need to FIND IT.

Yeah, so if anyone must DESPERATE have one or the other size, though, I would like, email to make sure. EVERYTHING about my order said 25mm. I could niggle with the company I guess, but I am in no mood to bother those who make such a lovely mod, the 23 is possibly better for me and my Kabuki anyway. So, um, yea.

It's exactly the right size to fall into a coffee cup but I have been somewhat disciplined about lids, at least my FIRST cup.

Nice day for cycling today, got up early and took the wife for a ride on a part of the trail she hadn't seen before, was comfortable 85 ish degrees. Went home and had lunch and headed back out solo exploring a new section of trail, last weekend I had to hop a fence to access this one but now it is open with new tarmac! It does go through a sketchy part of Raleigh but has some really cool wetland scenes. Also this trail uses some inner city streets as part of it's infrastructure.

After dinner I fired up the lights and took a ride around the circle in the hood...all in all, rode 48+ miles today.

If you're not really hung up on aerodynamics, I've been very happy with a very light, water resistant jacked with what they call pit zips. I call them under arm zip vents, but whatever.
Well, I'm not sure I could get more aerodynamic than my current biking attire: baggy cargo shorts and a dirty t-shirt. All blowin in the wind.

When I used to jog, years back, I did it all year long. But, I'm not sure how comfortable I am with biking in the rain (wet brake pads etc) and especially not on snowy paths. I trust my feets more than my tires for traction. Plus, falling off a bike just seems more damaging than slipping on foot.
But, I'd like to keep it going as long as I can before I retire it for the season.

riding in the rain...yeah...I crashed about two months back. Had a bruise, road rash, about the size of a softball on my right hip...it is pretty much healed up, but the skin is leathery and there still a couple pink spots that are still scab like...that one really hurt and left a mark. I tend to push it even when I am on a relaxation ride, I guess it's just my nature. I try to be casual and just go with the flow, but I have this natural cadence that clicks in, and it is not a relaxed one...I have a need for SPEED!!!!

A flintmobile sounds like the best of both worlds for you.

My notes are done. The husband is done (asleep) and whatever else you might imagine. Etc.

ALL the rest of the weekend for ME. Heh.

I got to hear all the alternative news and some alien talk by the husband as I did yoga. We have discovered we both like our yoga "talks" because he talks a LOT and it's usually followed by a "mmh hmm" or "Right" or "grunt" or "gah." There is little arguing, and much to impart.

He told me I was a liberal for the final time this evening, right after he was "done" as it were. I said, "Honey, if you ever call me a liberal again, I will punch you in the face... because I was an independent." He started saying that was liberal violence and I was like, "No, if I were a liberal I would punch you in the nuts." and then he agreed, and started talking about gender reassignment. I sighed, and said, "That may be so, but my reference was to the liberality of an UNFAIR fight, not agreeing with you that you should be of the female gender please do NOT do that I would not cope well." Then he asked what I would do if I was a republican and I was like, "I'm not going to tell you about it yet, it will just happen."

He agreed that like, I have a fair understanding of politics. Then he said any fight with me would not be a fair "fight" all lofty like, as if I could not hurt him by punching him in the right place in the face with my fist. That's probably true so like, I decided not to take offense.

"My wife is not a liberal" is good enough for me for ONE weekend.

For the life of me I cannot understand why I adore this guy so much but I just do! LOL.

Also, I told him he might have missed out on a career as like an escort and then he told me about the two months as a drunk he DID that. This led to excited questioning on my part like "How much did you charge? Was it horrible? Did some woman try to buy you outright?"

I swear, it's amazing what you can NOT know about someone after 15 years. I suppose that's a fairly specific question and all. Still.
