Jay Black, lead singer of Jay and the Americans, has passed away. Such a beautiful voice. He and his group provided a major part of the music of my teen years.

Yeah, Mike - this bummed out earlier too.

I much prefer a low key approach to life, so this is something a bit different for me. But considering the impact on my life, I feel it necessary to step out of the shadows for a public backpat.

I think today is the 8th anniversary of the moment I quit smoking. I'd quit many times before but never could withstand the urges so the absolute longest I went without burning tobacco was 9 months. And the reason I'm not sure of the date is because the moment was at 2:30 am so there's that uncertainty as to whether it was the 24th or 25th.

I know there are a lot of success stories like mine, many of much longer duration. But the day I found that vaping made it possible for me to walk away - after trying every "cure" I could find and still failing - is seriously a very important event in my life.

Due to preexisting health problems, I am convinced and not exaggerating that I am positive I would no longer be walking this earth today were it not for vaping.
