I've only read Ghost Rider, to date. That whole life-thing he went through had me totally locked in. I think I'm one of the few who really enjoyed the Vapor Trails album, partially due to the relationship to Neil's life.
Count me in as one who truly loved Vapor Trails. I have all the Rush studio and live albums, and videos.
LOL, I also have a couple pro-shot full concert videos on DVDs that were never publicly released (audio is direct from the mixing consoles) - those "might" have come from someone "I may have known" who "perhaps" cut the videos and added the audio.
Or, I might have found those in a very dark alley near Times Square in NYC......... yeah, that's it!!!
I really, REALLY, enjoyed the Clockwork Angels album. Neil and Kevin J. Anderson collaborated on the book trilogy. Neil had the story sketched out when he wrote the lyrics for the Clockwork Angels album. He and Kevin then worked on the books. Neil saw the first two books released.

It's hard to get past the significance of this performance by the Indian jazz fusion band, Shakti. Initially formed in 1973 by jazz guitarist John McLaughlin with virtuoso traditional Indian musicians, the band opened the doors for others to expand their musical appreciation beyond Western music. 50 years later, as guitarist McLaughlin reunites with tabla player Zakir Hussain to take Shakti on another world tour, the group stopped by for a magically inspiring performance behind the Tiny Desk.
"Shrini's Dream" sets the stage with both melodic and rhythm instruments, before vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan and McLaughlin each take turns calling out to the muse for inspiration. The entire set is a drummer's dream given Hussain is considered a master tabla player both within and outside the tradition.
Shakti's music has always been built around complex traditional rhythms and they are on full display with Hussain and Selvaganesh Vinayakaram. The band was born in the aftermath of McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra and "Lotus Feet" channels that band's hypnotic exploration of time and melody, while the aptly titled "Bending the Rules" mixes Indian traditions and the custom of jazz musicians trading licks back and forth, bringing this historic moment to an energetic close.

For Bailey and Hakim it was the starting point of their international career. WeatherReport‘s Cologne concert shows the band in musical top form. In a more than two-hour show, the band sparks a firework of rhythm and melodies.
The material which was originally recorded by the WDR (West German Radio and Television Broadcasting) has been completely restored and re-mastered and is now appearing in a new version -- something that‘s not just for long-time fans of Weather Report!
