Funny thing about that song The Trees. Neil must have read a book about North American forestry (why not) because he got it right. When a forest burns down or gets clear cut, it’s the maples, poplars, cherry, ash, sweet gum, others who dominate the new forest. Hickory and Walnut to an extent. Oaks are just another tree among them. But as the forest ages, the oaks slowly take over. What was once an equal opportunity forest, it always ends up being dominated by the oaks. Yes, the others have their presence, but make no mistake, the oaks rule the forest. Neil got it right.
