Now that I have started making my own juices mostly with the recipes available here why is it that the vendor bought juices that I have seem to really taste pretty bad? Im getting chemical aftertastes from many of former favorite expensive juices. I just want to vape them away and never buy any of them anymore. Home made juices are so much better

When I started with pre-made juice I started "doctoring" them with creams/vanillas, or whatever, to try to "fix" them.
Dilution, changing PG-VG ratios, etc., some worked, some didn't.
Led me into the DIY adventure, that and reading a lot of good stuff here.

Don't have Maxblend. A suggested alternative maybe?

MaxxBlend is a very mild tobacco that tastes honey-sweetened to me when vaped standalone. In this recipe it adds sweet caramel flavor instead, though - very surprising transformation. I think it's too complex a flavor for a simple substitute to give the same effect. MaxxBlend is sort of the star of the recipe, but if you have a different tobacco that's mild and sweet, you could try it instead. (I know that caramel flavoring does not produce this same effect.)

Thanks HIC. I only have FA Virginia and Cowboy Blend. Being partial to INA and VZ tobaccos, I have several and will try a few of those. The VZ Virginia Flue Cured and Honey Flue Cured will be the starters since both are sweet. :)

Yooperdad, MaxxBlend can be vaped standalone comfortably at 3%. If those VZ flavors take a lower percentage, be sure to use less!

Will do. They all recommend 2.5% as a place to start. I go from 3 to 7% in most of mine but will try this at 2.5%. Thanks again.

I'm fascinated with the way these coffee recipes use tobacco flavorings, yet the tobacco isn't tasted! Here's another great coffee recipe from the Italian website. It looks like a different author, but again there's no name to credit:

COFFEE BREAK
2% FA Cuban Supreme
2% FA Espresso
2% FA Caramel

It's a caramel coffee with vanilla and all kinds of complexity and smoothness from the Cuban Supreme. I would have expected this to taste like coffee and a tobacco product, but it doesn't. It's very good, and so simple to make! The author said this is "strong and persistent" coffee and likened it to a liqueur. Kahlua includes coffee, vanilla and caramel, so that makes sense. I might also try this with lower percents later, but it's a great morning coffee just like this.

I have this in one tank, the Caramel Coconut Coffee in another tank, and a cuppa hazelnut coffee to drink. I'm all set!

VZ Virginia Flue even at 2% will over power FA Maxx Blend for sure, but not really a bad thing tho, lol.
Maybe 1% for VZ stuff would be ok...
But then I get more spicy than tobacco with Maxx Blend so YMMV.

When I'm done with my coffee binge, I'll be trying this tobacco recipe from the Italian site next. Pardon the awkward translation. Wish I had a name to credit:

APACHE CLASSIC
The result is a homogeneous final taste where individual ingredients are detectable in occasional cameo by personalities.

preparation
12 drops of Tuscan reserve (Taste full and round, provides the tabacco)
8 drops of vanilla Thaity (Part sweet, acts as a binder between the three flavors, softens and enhances them)
5 drops of Desert Ship Blend (From the notes more angular, and pronounced spicy, contributes greatly to the final taste)

I'll use the numbers as ratios as aim for a total percentage, hmmm, somewhere around 3%, I think. Other recipes in the thread are for 10ml, and this one didn't say, but safe to assume it's the same as the others. Their 'drops' are from FA bottles. I'll have to measure mine and see how many drops/ml they make to get proper percents.

I saw a recipe on some other Italian site that used Desert Ship as the spices in a cookie! That's intriguing, don't you think?

That's interesting about the Desert Ship. I have a small sample which I never vaped, because it smelled just like a TFA tobacco I have somewhere and don't like. Perhaps I should actually taste it and give it a chance!

Ha. I have Desert Ship from VZ and can't imagine it being like spices in a cookie. But then it's not FA. HIC, I bought a lot of stuff before you got me hooked on FA :)

I can't imagine FA's Desert Ship as cookie spices, either. But then, I wouldn't have thought MaxxBlend would make a great espresso, so I'm willing to try it.

I have many, many flavorings I bought before I started with FA, too. I'm always looking for creative non-vape uses.

Emilie, I'm no expert on that but I understand from what I've read in this thread that FA is one of the leaders in full disclosure and that their flavors designated for vaping have none of the nasties.
I received my FA juices to mix up some Cinnamon Roll today, but before I do, I want to make absolutely sure that there are no custard notes in "E-Cigarette" flavors from FlavorArt.

I'm mostly worried about Cookie and Custard (this one, especially).

Any thoughts?

I've heard that, too. I just wanted to make sure. :)

Thanks!

Actually, if I remember right, I could have sworn that, even in the e-cigarette category, there was at least one with a note that said it had trace amounts of custard notes, but since it was called out specifically and none of the others seem to be, I was assuming the rest were safe.

You can never be too cautious, though. Wait, yes, you can (*ahempolicymakersahem*). Never mind. ;)

I did the same thing. I started buying flavor concentrates just to fix the pre-made.
