Hi HIC, like you I mixed TFA RY4D at 10% and it tasted like a chemical factory - even after a month of steeping. Am I supposed to do the open bottle thing? And also, is this a vanilla-caramel flavor? I taste neither one. I took it down to 7% and waiting a couple of days.

I let it age, but I don't do it with an open bottle. I only let bottles sit open if the flavorings are alcohol-based. If you don't taste and smell caramel strongly in TFA's RY4, I wonder if you really got RY4 Double. There is also plain RY4 and an Asian version. I've never had those, but I understand they're very different. The RY4 fans in the TFA threads can tell you lots more about their flavorings than I could.

Damn you LOL I don't have maple because I don't like syrup. The Mrs. is going to take my card soon.

If you really can't stand maple, you might wanna skip this pie. It's mostly working to bring out the apple flavor and to sweeten, but I think most people will taste some maple.

Who else loves cheesecake? :D

TFA's Cheesecake Graham Crust (not the plain one) has no 'custard notes' Perfumer's Apprentice and goes great with many FA flavorings. Especially the fresh-tasting fruits! It's a cheesecake with light graham-cracker crust and a hint of coconut. If you only ever tried TFA's plain cheesecake (the diacetyl-subs in that one make me gag), the Graham Crust version is MUCH better. I've been using it a lot since their White Chocolate flavor was revealed to have stuff I don't want to vape. I can finally move that White Chocolate to my kitchen to use in candies instead of vaping it.

I start with 2-3% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust. I often add 1% FA Vienna Cream to sweeten and add creamy vanilla. Then a little of the FA flavor(s) I'm using. Simple! A few I think are especially great:

Tiramisu Cheesecake: 3% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust, 0.5-1% FA Tiramisu - super-smoooth tiramisu, great stuff

Strawberry-Vanilla Cheesecake: 2% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust, 1% FA Vienna Cream, 1-2% FA Strawberry

Vanilla-Lime Cheesecake: 2% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust, 1% FA Vienna Cream, 0.5-1% Lime Cold-Pressed (not Tahiti)

Caramel Cheesecake: 3% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust, 1-1.5% FA Caramel

I'll bet a FA White Peach version would be good. I know FA Raspberry is.

I've never tried to make chocolate cheesecake, but I just wrote myself a post-it note to try it with Basic Cocoa Cookies. If I can figure out chocolate cheesecake, I'll be really pleased. Will work on that this week.

OMG.... get out of my head  I was just thinking of what to do with this TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust that's been sitting here untouched. Tiramisu Cheesecake sounds very tempting but I think I may try the Vanilla-Lime.

Will be very interested in what you come up with for chocolate!

I add TFA's Peanut Butter (which includes diacetyl substitutes) to make a choc-peanut-butter version, like Reese's in cookie form. I don't know of any peanut butter that doesn't have 'custard notes'. If you're willing to vape it, adding 1% makes chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips, adding 1.5-2% makes a Reese's cookie. If you add 2% and take out the FA Cocoa, that'd be a plain pb cookie.

Thanks much! :) Sounds good!

I'm going to have to place an order for some FA flavors! I've only used Cookie, and I love that one (and use often).

I don't really taste Walnut as a separate flavor in this apple pie. Do you also despise FA's Nut Mix flavor? If not, just replace the Walnut with more Nut Mix. If you can't stand either, Hazelnut makes a fine substitute. It's not my first choice, but it might be your preference!

Thanks! I love Nut Mix - we'll just sub that (and/or change the ratio a bit). Is the Walnut "English" or plain ole "Black Walnut"?

FA Walnut tastes like what *I* call English walnuts. Tastes like the ones that are the lighter color, sweeter flavor, can be shelled easily into halves that look like butterflies. Black Walnuts (not a FA flavor) what I call the darker, more potent ones - they're a real *itch to shell, found shelled only in tiny pieces and at great expense.

Not sure what's going on with FA Limes... they used to be called "Lime Cold Pressed" and "Lime Tahity". Now they're called "Lime Tahity Cold Pressed" and "Lime Tahity Distilled", at least on the FA UK and FA IT sites. Dunno if it's just a name change, or more.

I noticed that! I don't think the flavors have changed, or they'd say so on their main website. The 'cold pressed' has always been the juice flavor, and the other one is the peel. They should be named Lime Juice and Lime Zest.

Once you've tried a mix or two with that TFA flavor, it won't sit untouched for long.

Chocolate!! I mixed a half-strength batch of Basic Cocoa Cookies with 3% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust, expecting chocolate cheesecake. I got chocolate lava cake! It's very sweet, dark chocolate (no longer cocoa), a little bit of bakery going on - just like those oozing desserts. Fans of dark choc desserts would love it. It's a bit much to vape for long, but *excellent* dark chocolate. No tootsie-roll, no chemicals, and the vapor smells edible. I'm saving this recipe for future candy experiments. (NOTE to anyone who makes it: vape with low power, because Cocoa scorches easily)

Now I can go two directions:
- continue trying proper baked chocolate cheesecake (would remove brown sugar and caramel from the Basic Cookie for that)
or
- make a chocolate mousse (would remove cookie and maybe brown sugar, add Fresh Cream)

I'll probably eventually try both. But my 'to-try' list is long now, so it'll be a while. Yeah, that's a hint to anyone who feels like experimenting!

Thanks HIC!!!!! How would you recommend doing a key lime pie using TFA Key Lime?

Wow... no doubt, Vanilla-Lime Cheesecake is very good.

Peach Tea turned out good also! Gonna have to give it a day or two but I don't think I'd change a thing, maybe add just a bit of cream?

1.5% Black Tea
0.5 Honey
0.5 White Peach

0.5 seemed just right for me, in the Tea, not too sweet. I'd say you could use a little more if you wanted but I don't like my tea real sweet.
