i'm considering trying the "pilot", but have a few concerns. mainly about topping off carts. if i understand the 401 correctly, you cant top them off without a toothpick or pin, and a set of tweezers...is this correct? the cart needs to be disassembled? i have a 901 from steve, and i do not like to drip on the atomizer, i solely top off. and i mostly need to do it discreetly and quickly, like while sitting at a red light in my car, or in a bathroom stall at work. the 901 tends to leak liquid, and i was hoping the different design of cart/atomizer might be less prone to that..opinions?and last, do the batteries last a lot longer than 901's, or is that more unique to the "evo" version....I obviously dont have a lot of money, or i would just buy every e-cig on the market and find out myself. i'm hoping to see reviews as people get them, but am hoping to get answers to my specific concerns as to if this will work better for me without spending hundreds on 401's, evo's, dura's etc.btw, steve has been great, and im happy with my 901...just wondering if i can get similar/better performance with less leaking and better batteries, without needing a "lab" to fill carts.from what ive seen, you cant just drip right into the cart.

I'm not sure about the M-401, but the new carts for the S'moore M-402 are not user friendly.
I destroyed one trying to use the paperclip method, and punctured numerous holes in the "inner core". I actually had to use a pair of hemostats to pull it out, and when you put it back there is an audible "snap". I've tried clipping off and filing down various parts of the inner-core to ease the transition with no luck, but it's definitely NOT "push out with a paperclip", or red-light easy.

They do come with nice silicone plugs, so I just top off a few carts before I go out and I'm usually good. If you're desperate, you can aim your dropper for the center of the cart to achieve a similar result.

hmm, not sure if the 402 carts are the same as 401. when you say aim for the center, does this mean you can drip into the carts without removing the "inner cart" you speak of( i'm guessing this is the issue ive heard about with topping off 401's). i guess im still just trying to figure out if 401's can be topped off without "surgery"...and thanks cat, im looking forward to your impressions...

Yes, the inner cart is recessed about a 1/4" into the outer covering. So if you're careful (or use a syringe), you can drip straight down into the filling without disassembly. If you drip down the side, then you'll probably get some in your mouth as you vape.

I agree with youfillintheblank and Ripley.

I own a 401 from Intellicigs (4 day old vaper) and I'm already topping off carts. I've done it straight down the center of the cart for a quick top off and have done it with a full dis-assembly of the cart.

When I top off a cart, or change carts, I also like to put a drop on the atomizer. It seems like I get a LOT more use out of each cart with that one extra drop than without it. The only problem I have is that the 24mg liquid is wrecking me. I have to be really careful about how much I vape or my head starts spinning (and I'm a 20 year, 20-30 cigarette per day smoker).

The 401 is a monster. I think you'll love it.

thank you all, i decided to take a shot and order one instead of just ordering more 901 parts. i'll certainly post my impressions of it once i get it, and im keeping my fingers crossed that i will "love" it. i have one of those orange topped liquid bottles from PS that has the long nozzle, so im hoping i can reach it down into the cart(since you all answered my question that it is not "required" to remove anything).still wondering if steves 401 has any other differences besides just the battery reprogramming(im guessing not though).does anyone else have issues with 901's leaking where the cart meets the atomizer? hoping the 401 might adress this as well, tired of having nic stains in my shirt pocket:cry:(this can happen with a near empty cart even)
