Confessional time... I'm a single guy who's on a couple of dating sites online... and dating sites always make you pick one of several options for smoking... usually along the lines of "smoker", "non-smoker" and "only smokes when drinking"...

I'm really not sure where to classify the vaping. Sure, you're not fiddling with evil, smelly f**ksticks anymore BUT you're still addicted to nicotine and you still have a "habit" (and a mighty strange one, currently)... so how would you list yourself?

I'm a non smoker!!! I totally understand where the cut and dried categories are confusing and don't really seem to apply, but I would put non smoker. a) I don't smell like cigarettes anymore b) my mom admitted to me this morning when she came over that my house smells great and she was worried about me being able to smell all of her cigarette smoke on her (which I actually didn't but have smelled others now and go, wow I used to smell like that??) c) I would say any smoker or non smoker that couldn't support you on sites like that or at least understand where you are coming from without being rude and obnoxious going one way or the other on your PV doesn't deserve someone so open minded to helping themselves and everyone around them by getting rid of the analogs.

Just a note, my husband is a non-smoker (he is a chewer so he is understanding at least) and hated my cigarettes since we were friends as teenagers. He is totally thrilled with my e-cig, loves how the house smells now, loves that I don't smell, is glad that I'm not blowing smoke over our family anymore. He has been more than supportive which is a change over years of mean analog related comments. He calls me a non-smoker now, he admits that I have replaced my means of nicotine, but he doesn't worry about that.. if HE says we are non smokers, we are Karl!

I used these sited often when I was single..... I think it might be best to not answer that question.... I know the site I was on allowed you to skip certain question.....

That way if someone is interested you could explain to them after they have made contact about your vaping habit....

I consider myself to be a non-smoker now, but I think that soon after meeting someone you're interested in you should explain the situation.

BTW I love that you're calling them f**ksticks!:thumb:

LOL, yah... that was just an expression I used when I was frustrated and felt like verbalizing my feelings... but it is SO appripo to analogs because that's exactly what they're doing with them... f**king people left and right... constantly adding taxes... constantly taking away places to smoke... and adding nasty chemicals to the papers... and after all that, anytime you mention you smoke, people treat you with contempt...

I'm still up in the air about what to call myself, but skipping it entirely and explaining things in the body of the profile seems like the best thing to do... I must admit, though, that I'm thrilled at the possibilities opening up when I am able to hit up the non-smoking chicks...

Could it be possible that through PV's I can finally find "true love"?

Or at least lust... with really good fiveplay!

:D

If you don't taste or smell like a smoker, and your home doesn't smell like a smoker's home, then "non-smoker" is the most accurate description to give someone who's trying to decide whether to go on a date with you.

The first date is a good time to mention vaping, but hopefully not to make such a big deal out of it that your date thinks it defines you.

You would be a definitive non-smoker. However, if a question ever popped up regarding to whether you vape or not, then of course you are a vaper. :)

While as a vaper you are still addicted to nicotine, at least at this point, I would very much compare it to someone addicted to caffeine. From what I have read, nicotine and caffeine seem to have some equivalency, other than the fact that nicotine is much more addicting. Some of the reasons you are now a non-smoker, let alone how that would be very applicable to a dating site:

1. You no longer smell like smoke.
2. You no longer taste like smoke.
3. Possible smelly home.
4. The whole cancer thing.
5. Health problems in general.
6. Yellow skin, teeth.
7. Coughing/spitting.

None of the above things apply to a vaper. The only thing you share with smokers is that you are addicted to something, in this case nicotine.

Another benefit to vaping is that after a certain period of time (I think it might be 60 days for me), you can tell your health insurance agent that you no longer smoke. Cheaper health insurance is always a good thing. :)

May not necessarily relate to this thread, but figured I would post it anyway, in case someone forgot about this little bonus of vaping.
