Hi,

I'm a newbie and I hope someone can help me.

I have been using PV's for just over a year and I use this forum for my research all the time. Subsequently I have gone from my first purchase of a Chinese model from eBay to my EVO and 510 Titan.

I have always thought that these device would be the perfect partner when trying to quit smoking due to their mimicking effect. To be honest they do work for me when I also use alongside NRT products.

The problem I have is that I find that both the Evo and 510 aren't enough to keep me away from analogues when I have any alcohol which I find disappointing.

So whilst searching this forum in the hope of finding a solution of have come across many variations on the traditional e-cig. However due to thier high price tags I'm really looking for some suggestion on which ones may help me to overcome the problem.

Thanks for you help.

First, let me clarify some potential confusion:

  • All e-cigs (other than most mods) are "Chinese models" – including the Evo (M401) and Titan (Joye 510).

  • Most of the suppliers represented here on ECF sell models with lower price tags than those you will find marketed on the Internet, in malls, or on TV.

  • Equal in importance to the hardware is the e-liquid, about which you have said nothing.
Your Evo and Titan are fulfilling the hand-to-mouth and vapor inhalation/exhalation components of the smoking or vaping experience. What may be missing is throat hit. I think that is the primary factor that will keep you "away from analogs," including when having a drink (it certainly does for me):D.

Throat hit is influenced by at least five factors:

1. Nicotine level: All of the remaining factors being equal, the higher the nicotine level, the greater the throat hit. You may want to increase the nicotine level of the e-liquid you are using (unless it already is 24mg+).

2. Power (watts): Until lower-ohm atomizers become readily available, that means voltage. The higher the voltage, the greater the throat hit. All unmodified e-cigs use "3.7V" batteries. The 5V and 6V mods hit much harder, but they are more expensive. However, even among the "3.7V" batts, there is voltage variation:

  • George Orwell maintained that "some animals are more equal than others.";) Similarly, some "3.7V" batteries are more 3.7 than others. For example, I've read that the standard 510 battery is more like 3.2V, but the standard Kr8 battery is a true 3.7V. I don't have a voltmeter to confirm that, but it is consistent with my subjective experience.

  • That 3.7V is more of an average. A freshly charged "3.7V" battery delivers closer to 4.2V, then gradually drops down to around 3.2V before demanding recharge. Higher mAh batteries (e.g., a 280 mAh penstyle or KR808D-1 vs. the 510's 150 mAh) hold that higher voltage longer. The 750 to 3000 mAh of the mods really do that.
3. Atomizer: I think the Joye510 atty releases more of its goodness into vapor than TH. [That is not a technical analysis.] The Kr8 does the opposite. The penstyle is my golden mean. Just within the penstyle models, I think the M201 and Joye302 hit harder than the DSE801 or BE112.

4. PG vs. VG: PG tends to deliver greater TH; VG greater vapor.

5. Each individual's physiology and subjective impressions: Many, if not most, people do get TH from the 510 atty. I don't. Perhaps you don't either. A penstyle atty or Kr8 cartomizer might be more effective for you.
Putting that all together: If you are comfortable with an e-cig about 50% longer than your Titan, try a penstyle, especially with the Joye302 atomizer. Finding complete Joye302 kits is difficult. LiteCigUSA, Ecigsupply, and DIETsmokers all carry the DSE801 kit as well as the Joye302 atty.

Otherwise, try a Kr8. It is sold by myriad suppliers and under several brand names, including: NHaler (KR808D-1), Vapor4Life (Vapor King), PureSmoker (Ace), CigEasy (Easy), LiteCigUSA (KR808D-1), Altsmoke (KR808D), GoodProphets (VapoRite), LeCig (D1), and VaporKings (KR808D-1). Those are just the ones I've dealt with.
