My mother has asthma and uses a nebulizer a few times a week. She should use it more but hates the production of getting it out, hooking it up, etc. She is very interested in my PV and was wondering if she could use one to vaporize her asthma meds. It seems that the principle is the same, vaporizing a liquid for direct inhalation. Has anyone ever tried this or heard of anyone trying this? Anyone have any thoughts on this idea?

The difference is, nebulizers do their magic without heat.

Check the storage instructions on the medication at least. See if it has temperature suggestions. One would assume these would be related to when the chemicals start to break down or alter.

vaping broken down chemicals would do your mother no good.

Perhaps she should ask her doctor, though that answer is probably either a 'no' or "you shouldn't" even if it is really "I don't know."

The problem is rather complicated. Her nebulizer delivers an exact amount of drug per inhalation, and it would be impossible to know how much an atty will deliver, nor would it be known if the heat decomposes the drug or perhaps makes it react with the glycerin. Too many unknowns to be able to safely do this, so I would strongly recommend NOT doing this!

On the other hand, there are many testimonies of people with asthma that have no reaction at all to vaping, and some even see improvement. But unless she also has a nicotine addiction that vaping from an ecig could mediate, I do not see any reason for her to take up vaping, even though it is not likely that it in of itself would be harmful.

1. I'm not sure what reaction Albuterol (Assuming that's what she is nebulizing) would have to the heating process.

2. By the time you got a usable mix into PG or VG you would end up with a fair amount to vape. The dosage would probably be too slow over time.

If she is doing this a few times a week, why not leave the unit set up somewhere to minimize the work? To be honest, I think we do tons more work all day vaping than she is nebulizing. :)
