After countless hours of reading and watching I finally decided to wrap a coil. rda is a Cyclone AFC with 5 wraps of 32 guage kanthal a-1 wrapped around a 5/64 drill bit, twisted cotton wick. Coil wraps are absolutely perfect looking, each coil spread evenly. Reads 1.9 on meter 1.8 on Vamo V3. When test fired before inserting cotton, red glow started in the center and worked its way evenly outwards and the legs werent glowing just like all the tutorials show is proper. So having nothing to compare it to I just wanted to know if this is normal, after about 8-10 hits it starts tasting a little burnt and the coil starts to glow on the very outside 2 ends. Is this normal and just because its drying? If any more info is needed let me know but I just want to know from experienced members if thats normal for a cotton build. Thanks

Just to add I'm vaping at 5-6watts on a vamo v3

Such low watts. But your issue is your not wicking properly. Coils should never glow with juice and wick.
You mention twisted cotton? Three cotton needs to be able to breath and absorb the juice, if it's tight it can't.
I only twist the end of my cotton to start into the coil, after that it's more lightly pinched to form.

Well with drippers they need a few drops often. Especially when you first build it, it takes a few minutes of vaping for the saturation to really set in good with the cotton. Here is a picture of my cyclone build. This is on the bottom feeder style, but it may help a little

Ok Joka I wicked almost axactly like your screenshot but on the right (close to edge) I brought it through and then tucked it under the coil to rejoin it to the bunch on the left side of coil. I also kept the left side of the wick going and brought it around and between the posts and over the coil so the coil has cotton under, over and through it. The pic is it before bringing long end through posts and over coil, or would u recommend just copying your pic exactly? And on your short end is it just cut there or is it tucked under or around? Thanks for the help guys

Yeah now that I re wicked it with fresh cotton, thicker and looser this time I'm getting no red ends now. Thanks for your help, its just what I needed. I tell you what though this cyclone is pretty kickass the only complaint I have is theres no lip and it seems the area is tiny but I have nothing to compare it too. From other pics I see it would be tough to fit these twisted coils on there.
