I would really like to order a Protege or a Passthru, but I'm very unclear as to how long it would take to get either one.

Meaning would it be faster to just order a passthru?

I know the site says 2 weeks but I notice there are people who are already waiting on devices that will get theirs when the new ones arrive, so if I order today would I get one, or would I have to wait for another shipment.

Thanks for any clarification

lol... I bet you would have no trouble getting rid of one on the classified ads right about now.. Even though I sent mine back I am really happy with that tiny shiny little mini P ... I love it. Feels like a good zippo lighter does. Solid.

If I were the OP I would order both and just wait. Good things come to those who wait.

That's blasphemy. No one in their right mind would willingly put their Protege up in the classifieds :p

Thanks for all the help guys, You have convinced me, I'm gonna get the protege, like you said good things come to those who wait.

One more question, since you guys know so much
Can I also order the Protege USB is that a Passthru made for the protege?
It didn't say passthru so I want to make sure, sorry if I sound dumb.

Basically I want to be able to use it also as a passthru
Thanks for all the help, I'm going to bite the bullet and order the best and wait :)

No, an adapter to turn the Protege into a passthrough has been mentioned but it's a ways off if Steve decides to make it at all.

What you're seeing is the adapter that fits the end of either the Protege or the PS Passthrough (they're the same size) so you can screw on the atomizer of your choice.

Okay, so if I get the 510 Puresmoker passthru thats 69 then I can use the 510 atomizer that comes with the Protege correct. So basically the Passthru has the battery on it and I just attach an Atomizer

I'm still confused as to what the Protege USB Adapter is ? the one that costs less $29.00

So glad I asked I almost ordered the Protege USB Adabter

All of PS stuff is made to fit many different types of atomizers, and that's what you're seeing as "adapters" basically you can order a 510 PT,and if you want to also be able to use say..a 901 atomizer, you could order a 901 adapter, and use the same passthrough with both atomizers by switching out the adapter that's on the business end.

This works the same way for the Protege -- one unit, multiple adapters to use any atomizer you wish. Of course, if you ONLY use the 510 now, no sense in ordering adapters unless you want to experiment with the other types of atomizers. This of course will mean you need to order those atomizers too :)

If you buy a Passthrough or a Protege they will come with the adapter, unless you order the Protege "Bare Bones" kit which assumes you already have the adapter and batteries.

The adapter is just the small round thing on the end that allows you to attach an atomizer. Choose the one for the atomizer you want to use.

If you get the 510 adapter then yes, any 510 atomizer should work on it.
This IS the Protege/USB adapter. On the Protege page they are $21.99. This is the new stainless steel one. On the Passthrough page you'll see this one, as well as the PS USBpass adapter for $12.99. This is the same thing, just the old aluminum version which also fits the new Protege, but be careful screwing it on because the Protege is stainless steel and can strip the threads on the adapter. They perform the same function - allowing you to connect the atomizer of your choice to either device.

The Passthrough ($69.99) does not have a battery. It has a cord and a USB plug to connect to an external power supply that you provide. The Protege and Prodigy use batteries - no cord involved.

The extra adapters are simply sold as backups or say you get a 510 Protege but also want to use an 801 atomizer. You can just change adapters to switch to a different atomizer. Same for the Passthrough or the Prodigy.

Hint: Get the Protege full kit - you'll love it!
