From what I gather, steeping is the process of letting freshly made e juice sit for a while so that the flavors blend properly in order to obtain fullness of flavor? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Just wondering, are there certain flavors that need steeping more than others? Are there certain flavors that don't need steeping?

Does the pg/vg ratio have any effect on how long juice needs to steep?

Can you really speed up the steeping process by sitiing a bottle of freshly mixed juice in a bowl of hot water? How hot, and for how long?

Well, I am not into doing any tobacco flavors, at least not yet. I guess I'll do the warm water bath and hope for the best.

I don't usually steep. I've heard that the tobacco flavors do need steeping though. I use bakery flavors. I've heard that putting the bottle in some warm water for a little while might help speed things along. Maybe 15 minutes or so.. not too hot.. just pretty warm.

Thanks, smallmam. And hello to you, too! I new to diy. I think I will take donnah's advice and do the warm water bath. I have read elsewhere that this is a good way to bring out flavors and get them to blend more quickly. I just don't think I would be able to mix a juice, wait 2 days, try it, add another few drops, wait a couple days, try it... It would drive me bonkers.

I figure if the flavor gets too strong over time, I can just dilute it a bit. And if the flavor just gets better, I can deal with that. Then again, I don't do tobacco. I like my flavors sweet, mostly fruits, dessert, and bakery stuff. Can't wait to get my malic acid to make some Jolly Rancher type fruits!

Hi my4fewels! very good questions. I love your post. yours are always pin point and provide helpful info to somewhat lost DIYers like me :)
for now I am steeping tobacco flavors at least 1 week. other flavors 2 days or none.
honestly I can not tell difference yet.

True.

Tobacco flavor need much more steeping, 5 or 6 times longer IMO.

You might be able to enjoy a fruit flavor immediately after mixing but the taste will continue to change for 2-3 days.

Mostly as it affects thickness. Thicker liquid takes longer to accept the flavor, to blend together.

Yes. Hoosier is a proponent of this method. He recommends shaking the juice, dropping the bottle into a container of very hot water, shaking again after the juice has been heated and then leaving the bottle in the water until it has cooled. If you want to vape the juice shortly after you made it, this could make the difference between 'good' and 'not-so-good'.

Heating temporarily reduces the viscosity of the juice so that it becomes thinner, allowing its components to blend more quickly.

Some people just microwave the juice for a few seconds to heat it. If you try this, be very cautious on heating time and be sure to remove the bottle's cap.

I wonder... could you homogenize vape juice like the milk processors do with moo juice?

I'm pretty new to diy myself. I'm making 2 of my favorites, Hypnotic Mist from Flavour Art and Vanilla Cup Cake from Capellas.
I've learned it's best to mix up the juice at least a week before I plan to vape it. The improvement in taste is especially noticeable in the Hypnotic Mist.
If the change in a juice as simple as these 2 after one week is that great, imagine how much a juice that combines several flavorings would need to steep to reach it's peak.

I'm mixing 30/70 PG/VG with MTS Vape Wizard at half a percent.
