I got my Protege about a week after I ordered it, even though I ordered in the heat of a rush. Shipping was posted on twitter and the forums so I was never in the fog about where my Protege was, so I thought that was good. Tracking sucked but that was no fault to PureSmoker.

I opened the package to find my parts all neatly wrapped in bubble wrap, but what has happened here? I find the bottle of liquid's bubblewrap dripping eliquid when I pick it up. That sucks too, but again no fault to PS as I'm quite certain that they would not have put an open bottle of menthol liquid in an outgoing shipment. Finally I get to the good stuff, I unwrap the visually distorting bubble wrap to find a much, much smaller device than I had expected. This thing is soooo small that I just stared at it in disbelief for several seconds. It truly is a beautiful piece of machined steel and brass. I picked it up and marveled in how nice it felt in the hand and how beautiful it was in the mid-day sun. So I popped a battery in the chamber, screwed on a filled atty and pressed the button...sizzle. So the battery at least a little juice for me to play with. I took a few drags and holy crap. The vapor is so warm and thick. It's clearly better than my heavily used 510 batteries that I have been using.

Today I'm working on breaking in the new atty and its rockin so far. I've been using my current battery for about 4 hours now and it's still working better than my almost dead 510 batteries, so thats great in my book. The adapter seems to be pretty solid (none of the rattles that some mentioned earlier this week), but I think it's like 1 or 2 degrees crooked which is barely noticeable at all. I can't seem to get any of my attys (which so far have ALL worked, both old and new) to screw down all the way. They all seem to leave about .5 to 1 mm space so maybe that's good for airflow or maybe that's why it appears a few degrees crooked?

I have been using it with both carts and dripping and I have to say, I think the carts are working better for me. The vapor is thick and tasty enough for me to not need to take many drags and I think it gives the cart more time to wick liquid. When I was dripping, I found myself taking only 3 or 4 drags before I have to refill. Everything seems to taste good in the Protege except my Ry4 variants (which are my faves). I don't really understand why, but it tastes good for a few drags, then tastes burnt. This was my experience on several attys with the Protege? Maybe I'm doing something wrong? My menthol and tobacco flavors are great all the time, but for some reason the RY4 flavors are different.

The charger and batteries work fine as advertised and I think I've had a very pleasant first PureSmoker purchase. Now I have to get back to my new toy!

I got my Protege in the mail today. It's everything I thought it would be. The size is just right and it feels good in my hand. Now I can retire the nicosticks and really enjoy 3.7 volts.

It really looks good with a platinum atomizer. I will get some of the SS atomizers when they are available.

The adapter threads are new and have better tolerances than the Joye 510 batteries. The atty doesn't snug up all the way but that was the same with my Prodigy. Time and cycles will cure that. The atty is making good contact so I don't recommend anyone try to force the connection. If you force the connection you will move the center contact of the atty and could result in a shorted atty. All you need is a contact for it to work.
