Well i quit smoking cold turkey over 5 years ago. It was the hardest thing i have ever done in my life. I don't want to smoke cigarettes again i remember the coughing and hacking that i went through with them, and the issues my wife went through with asthma and other issues. Plus i have a 2 young boys ages 2 and 3 that i would not want to submit to the dangers of second hand smoke. So the traditional light em up smokes are out of the question.

My situation is this. I have gained a tremendous amount of weight in the past five years. And i have come to the conclusion that i have an oral fixation. I am not hungry, i simply want something in my mouth (i hate gum with a passion, so not an option). Probably a problem that carried over mentally with 10 years of smoking.... I recently had a fellow class mate bring an E - cig to our Creative Writing class and found it profoundly interesting :w00t: I have been trying to research into all of it and WOW so much info.... Tried getting opinions from people on Facebook and didn't get much back...

So i guess the big question is Nicotine? Is it a bad idea after so long to introduce it back into my system? I read *a little about even non nicotine e - cigs? I need some advice?!?! HELP!

You could go with 0 nic juice. Then you've got the habit but no nic. There are a few vendors out there that sell juice with 0 nic.

I think introducing nic back into your system may be a slippery slope back to cigs. Maybe.

Since you've been without for 5 years, and you say you're just looking for some "hand-mouth" fixation, then 0 nic is the way to go. My $0.02.

I don't think using nic juice is slippery slope back to smoking. Too many of us have quit with e-cigs and nic juice and have no desire or cravings for analogs for me to believe the continued use of nic might drive you back to smoking.

I was in an almost identical situation. I was quit for 5 years also but I went back to analogs for 4 months before finding the e-cig. So now I use mostly 6mg nic and it works completely for me. I've lost all my quit smoking weight, couldn't be happier about not smoking again and I'm trying to get down to zero nic too. I will never smoke a cig again, I am sure of this.

But that said, why even bother with nicotine if you're no longer using it? Go with zero nic at first and see if it works for you. I suspect it will, but if it doesn't, and if you really feel you must use nic don't go above 6 mg, you don't need it. IMHO.

If i did decide to go the 0mg route wit e - cigs could anyone recommend what and where to possibly get it? I live in Casselberry Florida. If? still not making a choice yet, i did choose e cigs is it better to purchase online? and is it best to go the vegetable glycerin route? oy... wish this was an easy decision...

Tasty Vapor sells "Doublers", this in 2 or 4 ounce bottles of 0 nic e liquid with flavoring. I believe you can choose your VG ration on these with no problem.

Personally I would go with an auto battery cig look alike, like a Bloog or a Volt. Get non tobacco flavored 0mg juice (maybe mint) in pre filled cartos to start. If it works for you, get blank cartos and branch out to filling your own. Having been right where you are, this is the setup that would have worked for me had I only found e-cigs before turning back to analogs first.

People might disagree with my posts, but I have been in exactly this place not that long ago. Once you start seriously thinking like this it may be only a matter of time before you return to smoking. That would be a tragedy. If you're that set on it, at least the e-cig is the best of the two. At least as far as we know at this point. Maybe it's not 100% safe, and I suspect it's not, we all hope it's safer than smoking.

Hmmm, my thoughts are a bigger mod that takes 18650 batteries, a bottom feeder even. This looks and feel nothing like a cigarette and won't tempt you back to them. You'll find a whole new experience in vaping going this route. You'll get the hand/mouth/inhalation/manipulation of vapor....and also long battery life (all day on one battery) and hassle free juicing. Fill a bottle, put it in the mod, put in a battery and you're done messing with stuff for the whole day. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...er-forum/196163-hogs-mods-21.html#post3554984 I use one of his and I swear by it. You need at least 2 18650 batteries and a charger for them, also at least 2 (back up is key) 510 2ohm atomizers, look at Madvapes if you go with this system. :)

What is the purpose of the Mods?

(i have duel purpose to this also - My sister recently went back to smoking after a much shorter break then me. And seeing that this is a healthier cheaper alternative - if i can convince her to try would be nice.)

Cig like batteries last about an hour...mod batteries last much longer, the the cig like are about 180mAh, the 18650 batteries I use are 2400mAh...it's about hassle free vaping to me. The "juice box" bottom feeder holds 6ml of e liquid, you push the bottle, it feeds the atomizer, you vape. It's just simple. No constant refilling, no constant charging and changing batteries. Personal preference I suppose, but I almost went back to smoking a few times in the beginning over all the hassle that comes with low mAh batteris and refilling my liquid all day long.

Hi, Bianca... And Happy 4th to you and yours too.

Yes, personal preference. I use my eGos and Rivas for serious vaping, but I still enjoy the familiarity of a ciglike battery. My 280 mAh Joye 510 with a 2.0Ω Boge carto (or a 510-T atty) is a pleasure. I use it it when driving or going out or just for fun...

Hello Jwag and welcome..
I am about like you I guess. Quit smoking (chantix) about 3 yrs ago. It was hard and I never want to have to quit smoking again! But with all the stress etc, I felt the draw .. wanted to smoke.. and wanted it bad! I started chewing on straws and toothpicks and pencils again and just felt it wasnt going to be too long. Saw a reality show where a lady was smoking an ecig. and well the bug was planted lol.

I have been vaping for I would guess 3 months but just recently found the forum last month. I have stayed on zero nic since I started vaping. The puff from a disposable that had nic well to tell the truth it kinda made me sick lol. But I am enjoying my vape even if I am hunting the juice I really love.. But I think everyone goes thru that hunt. My thought process was I really enjoyed my smoking and since I had been off nic for 3yrs no reason to start back. When I asked my doc she said go for it but stay off the nic (for other medical reasons). And I must say an added bonus that I hadnt thought of when I started was that I dont nibble as much late at night. I really dont think about it much.
And I have to say I absoluetly love my morning coffee and ecig!!!!

I have had lot of friends ask why start vaping after being off cigs so long...
I really feel this is better than analog again. I just cant go thru quitting again.
Best of luck and while I am still new to all this myself hollar anytime.
Zero nic seems to be a minority but they wont throw us out lol

I have the most basic mod, the NoEgo from Ga Tech (jazzcartopipes.com). What others are suggesting is a box shaped e-cig with a bottle to fill the cartomizer. It serves two functions, one cost of the batteries is FAR less this way. A Riva 510 is pretty awesome at sub $40 shipped for the kit with two 750mAh batteries. Less ciggie shaped. Battery replacements are sub $20, but the kit gives you extra parts that you'll use. Mods the batteries are sub $10, typically $5. They tend to offer features non-modified units don't, like bottle feeding, variable voltage, higher voltage. I have to admit variable voltage would be useful, but I can just buy into the right resistance addy.

I'm happy with a cylinder, but nothing wrong with going with a box. They do look less silly than screw driver mods.
