firstly realize it's NEVER going to be like a cigarette, it just isn't.

what it will do is provide an enjoyable and tasty nicotine delivery system. so all those screamy meamy nic fits with quitting arent there.

you have to decide, it took us five days of three ciggies a day whilst vaping to just to commit to "ok quit time" and like any habit it takes awhile to become a habit.

you've got the hand to mouth and exhaling that is strangely satisfying,

a tip, keep a tank of higher than what you're vaping nicotine for those "craving moments"

the cravings do get less and less..we're at 8 months now and I've not had one of "those" moments since around five months or so.

good luck!

To give more info. I regularly use 18mg. I'm using tobacco flavors since I get tired of other flavors before my tank gets empty. I have been vaping for aboit a year now. I have quit smoking while vaping and worked out well. I wasn't around other smokers when I quit though. When I made friends who smoke I bummed a couple until I started buying my own pack again. I'm using an itaste vv but also have the D1 from Lecig which are fashioned yo look like a real cigarette. Just can't stand the cartridges.

I couldn't deal with cartridges either. If it's cravings, maybe try upping your nic to 24, that did it for me. Possibly using WTA if that doesn't work like some suggested. So is it mostly being around friends who smoke that makes you want to smoke? I haven't found tobacco juices that I liked. If you like those, that's great, but if you could get into some other juices, fruity or whatever, it might make you want cigs less. You could always get a few more tanks to load up several juices and switch throughout the day to a different flavor. These are really good tanks at a great price.

Sounds like you have quality equipment.
And it sounds like you switched to vaping some time ago with no problems.

So I guess the question is why are you bumming smokes in the first place?
Are you embarrassed about vaping in front of these new friends?

I just woke up one day and said the hell with it, I quit after 25 years. It really sucked at first, the first couple days were terrible. I went through every possible withdraw symptom the first two weeks. After that it got easier. Now 2 1/2 months later I don't even have the urge. Started off with 24mg for a couple weeks then started to drop every other. I'm down to 6mg now. If you really want to do it you will. The Atlantis helped, hope it works out for you

Everybody says too many words.

so my advice is tl;dr version:

Don't try. I didn't. Happened by itself.

Just keep using the vaporizer. Eventually you won't want cigs anymore.

That would not have worked for me. I did have to put my foot down and commit to not buying any more cigarettes. It was still tough for a few months and actually took well over a year before I was convinced I was really over the cigarette addiction.

We're all different I guess :)

My method, which worked like a charm for me, I bought a quality starter setup (MVP 2.0 with an Aspire Nautilus Mini), found a good fruit flavored juice (so I didn't even have the tobacco taste anymore), and then I threw away the rest of the pack I had. To me throwing away what's left is like a final "screw you" to cigarettes. After that I pitched my lighters and anything really associated with cigarettes, and cleaned the crap out of my car lol. I started with 12mg, the first couple days I had some headaches and was a little easily aggravated. After about 3 days I'd realized it tasted better (to me), I could do it inside (also particular to me), and neither me nor my car smelled like an ashtray, but rather a giant jolly rancher. Everyone here is right, you do have to want it, you have to have the desire to kick it, and doesn't hurt to ween yourself off the nicotine a little bit, I'm at like 3-6mg now, headaches come and go, but ultimately you can decide how strong and how long the addiction sticks around. Good luck my friend, stay strong, and vape on!

Not as different as you think. I got my first ecig in 2010. My last cigarette was June 1, 2012.

Took nearly two years for me. But then again, I sincerely did not intend to quit smoking. All I wanted was something to sneak in an airplane lavatory, and something to do in non-smoking hotel rooms so I didn't have to walk so much.

Man. I was lazy and got rewarded with quitting smoking.

Makes one wonder.

I was very similar; no real intention to quit, because I really didn't think it was possible, but I sure wanted to stop having to go out in all weather just because of my stupid habit. And the price of cigarettes was just killing us, having to reserve that $88 every pay period, no matter what, even if we had to buy less food.

I really don't give a hang if I stay addicted forever, since it's not to cigarettes any longer. The only really good reason I've seen so far for lowering or eliminating nicotine is so I don't have "popsicle paws" all winter, so I might eventually go lower on my nic, but it won't be for quite a while; I'll be engaged with lowering my WTA for the next 9 months, until it's gone, so it might be a couple years before I go lower than 10mg on nicotine.

Interesting AndriaD.

I too have been on the e-cigs for year or so - mostly as my nemesis CravenA - but now as the unfortunately reviled Bernard Marx.

I have changed my advice to myself at least 50 times in this period: More nic-less nic; More PG- less PG; more flavor-less; bigger heat, larger aperture, glass, plastic, schedule, abandon, give up...etc but never have I had an interest in going back to smoking!

This is the strength of this method of quitting: Cigarettes are way down there on the list of alternatives.

Try putting that first one of the day further and further off. When I was smoking, first thing I'd do every morning was grab a cup of joe and a cigarette. A couple days after I started vaping, I decided I wouldn't have that first cigarette unless I REALLY needed it. Within a week I never got around to lighting up. I carried cigarettes with me for a while - I never wanted to feel panicked about being out of them. And I knew there would always be people around me who smoked, so I had to get used to the idea that I could decide not to light up. Best of luck to you - all I can tell you is that after 40+ years of smoking, it felt amazing to be able to look at a pack of cigarettes and say, "No thanks".

I would agree, except I had my own little relapse after my appendectomy, for a swarm of reasons: not vaping for 4 days while I was so ill, then, because of that 4-day hiatus, it just tasted foul to me; inflammation in my colon, the massive infection and surgery; massive stress from the whole debacle; and then, not having a "no need to panic" stash in the house -- that last one just ...... me off and pushed me over the edge; if I'd had a partial pk stashed in the freezer as I do now, perhaps I could have negotiated myself out of it -- "I'll just vape now, and later if I still REALLY want to, I'll smoke", that sort of thing, which worked really well to help me whittle them down while I was reducing smoking. But, I never did entirely stop vaping, so even thru that, e-cigs helped me get back to smoke-free, and then 10 days later when the cravings came back, WTA helped me stay that way.

I wouldn't mind being 16 again and just smoking without guilt, heck without any shadow of guilt, heck relishing in the guilt. Friggin old age.

My fondest wish is that I could go back to about age 14, but retain everything I've learned since then. Youth is great, except for the ignorance that getting older usually remedies -- because those who don't learn, very often don't get a lot older. :D
