@vaper1960
Yeah, Mac or Mc, as a prefix to a name, means 'son of' in Scotland. Just wasn't sure in what context @smacuser was using it...
The sale of snuss was banned in the EU a few years back, although it's not illegal to possess or use it. In five and a half decades I have never met anyone who uses either snuff or snuss...hence my ignorance.
And well done with the cigs...just one day at a time.
I guess when you've experienced the crazy .... that was going around in the early and mid 90's, the idea of snorting powdered tobacco, or shoving a lump under your gum, seems a bit lame.I came across both while at uni in Edinburgh, snuff was local from apothecary shop as far as I can recall, snus was getting brought by some Swedish students. But that was around 2007, didn't know it got banned. Both were more of an experiment than a habit though, just another experiment to top up the list of the crazy stuff myself and my mates did haha

No offence meant, just a time and a place thing.![]()
Well there wasn't much background to it, it was more of a casual: "I have some snorting/chewing tobacco, oh and I brough some Hawaiian Woodrose seeds, do you guys want to try?" "Hell Yeah!" sort of situation![]()
@CagedSpamLol, Hawaiin Woodrose seeds. Now, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time... A long time.
And very 90's, but a good way to get a stomach ache IMO.

Don't forget Syrian Rue, the 90's were crazy times.Haha you'd be surprised how much of different oldschool stuff has gone through my hands while at uni. Yeah stomach pain... until you made yourself sick, then it would go away and the fun begun. Cpt grey, I kinda miss that innocence and stupidity already, it hasn't been that long ago but my life has gone 180 since and I have to say I was much happier person back then...
I hate to pop a bubble, and I'll qualify this by saying that I had the best times of my life through the 90's, but...Haha you'd be surprised how much of different oldschool stuff has gone through my hands while at uni. Yeah, I'm suffering for my past ill-advised experiences too. They were fun, most of them. I didn't think I'd be around now to suffer from them back then. Can't turn back time though, and it was fun while it lasted.I hate to pop a bubble, and I'll qualify this by saying that I had the best times of my life through the 90's, but...
Abuse catches up with you.
I was as strong as an ox during my 20s...eat anything, drink myself sober, take any number of illicit substances, often in combination, and still get up for work at 7.00 am on a Monday morning.
However, time catches up with all of us. I've had major surgery twice in the last 6 months, to bypass blocked veins in my legs. I've suffered from IBS, and bouts of consistant vomiting for 12-18 hours, for the last 12-15 years. Numerous tests have not found a physical cause, and I've been told it's psychosomatic. Doctor speak for "we haven't got a clue".
I know it's down to the crap I ingested 25-30 years ago, when I thought that I was having the time of my life.
Hindsight is useless, unless it helps others to avoid the same mistakes.
But, when you're 20, and a 40+ year old tells you "that's not a good idea", you generally ignore the advice.
In the late 80s and 90s, the long term detrimental effects of new illicit substances were not known.
The doves, speckled doves, and mitzis are now coming home to roost.
Never tried nutmeg but I've heard bad stories about it from friends who consumed it freshly ground in high doses: people having bad trips for days, blacking out without knowing what happened for the past few hours and how they ended up where they regained awareness of the surroundings etc. Not my piece of cake, or a cookieThe 90s were my fun time through college but honestly snus OR snuff (snuff especially but I had allergies) sounded revolting and kind of awful.
I am going to be honest however: my worst drug experience of all TIME was not believing in the psychoactive properties of nutmeg cookies (the Sikhs in my school brought them for a school road trip, they were absolute MASTERS at finding non drug drugs, and like, really...…) I was like "OH come on this is not a DRUG. I just ate them until someone made me stop. I mean.... thank GOD they did, I don't think I could have eaten too many more. Oh God, they had to be digested so it was NOT a short high. Given the choice between nutmeg and almost ANY other psychoactive, even today, I would vote for the unknown. I recovered by going to a keg party in a freaking cornfield IIRC but I wasn't even a smoker then and usually still biking like 400 miles a week and running 25.
I don't feel that bad for all the drugs I've been through although I kind of always kept things mellow. I have probably done FAR more damage via legitimate prescribed drugs to stabilize my bipolar than anything "illicit." To be fair, prescribed drugs like kill far more people.
