I have looked but cant seem to find any info in wick safety threads... a few weeks ago i was experimenting with different wick materials and i tried gauze pads. I did not look to see what there were made of untill now. I boiled the pads cut little strips, twisted them and the wrapped a coild around them and put them into a phoenix clone. It wicks very well and i have ran alot of gorilla juice through it. So im just curious if is safe or what problems it may have.
Thanks for any input.

It might be fine. I would be most concerned about it melting but after reading a bit on rayon, it does not melt but it will burn (but so does cotton). With it being a manmade fiber, I would proceed with caution - no telling what side effects, if any, there are. I would take the end of the thread to a lighter and see what it does - if it burns and turns to ash - then maybe. If it curls into a little ball, then probably not.
